At least with Tierney being injured we don’t have the ridiculous situation of accommodating him out of position.

Should be fairly straightforward case of playing the form players in positions they play for their clubs but Eck will come up with something weird and wonderful no doubt.

Probably something along lines of

McGregor

Paterson
Robertson
McKenna
Hendry

McGregor
Shinnie
Armstrong

Forrest
Fraser
Fletcher

That would almost have been my team but would have played Russell alongside Fletcher.
A little concerned about the lack of power in midfield which has a bit of the current Hibs team about it.
Perhaps the extra midfield player is to partly address this issue.

Callum Paterson has been playing up front and has 3 in his last 4 in the premier league.

He is originally a right back, and under the circumstances, I can see why he’s playing there though.

Surely the logic is pretty straightforward.
You bet to win???

You wouldn't back Hibs against Barcelona...But you would back Barca on handicap by a couple.

Don't fancy Scotland at all and 9/4 is a very good price for Albania...but I hope for Scotland to win.
Winning the cash is a consolation to drown my sorrows. :)

He’s picked the same team I picked in my bbc team selector so if we don’t win tonight it’s not because of the team he’s picked 😉

Always want Scotland to win however there’s a silver lining if we do lose tonight in that Mcleish will surely not see out the week as manager.

Nice guy but never in a million years should he be the national team manager just now.

Scotland really are playing some superb stuff here.

One of my biggest gripes recently has been the daft friendlies that I don’t think we have taken anything from. Despite the massively depleated squad, is there anyone playing tonight that really broke through during these games?

This should be our team now, this should be our system and anyone that pulled out now drops down the pecking order.

I would say the only exceptions to that are at centre half and at right back.

Amazing the difference when players are played in position.

I don’t want to criticise Mcleish tonight as quite frankly he doesn’t deserve it after that, however I wonder if all these call offs almost helped him in the end.

If everyone had remained fit for tonight I don’t think that side would have started. SJM and Tierney are the only ones who I think should have started but I’m sure some of the other drop outs would have been shoe horned into the side.

This season, yes. Forrest has raised his game and been brilliant this season. He's always a player that I have thought was fairly threatening for Celtic against Hibs but I just didn't like him at International level. Tonight he was superb, as he has been often this season. In previous seasons I think he's flattered to deceive whilst Boyle has been hugely under-rated, but that's not been the case so much this year.

That was a good, balanced team performance tonight with loads of positives. We had a team of players who clearly wanted to be there, and we didn't have to try to accommodate Tierney. I reckon the need to accommodate Tierney has been what has led us to be as disjointed as we have been. Lots of good, young, fit, mobile players out there tonight with a wee bit of experience at either end of the park in Fletcher and McGregor with players all playing in their best positions.

We have some good young players.

We are lacking a top centre half and striker but there is plenty to work with. They all played in their proper positions and it makes all the difference. The worry is that it only happened because McLeish was forced to do it. I hope he doesn’t revert to accommodating certain players when they’re all available again.

Am I right in saying that if we win on Tuesday we win the group and increase our chances of qualifying for the next euro finals? And we get promoted.

Yes, we go into a play off against the other winners of the group C pools.

Although, I saw something about it being a semi final so it might be a 2 round play off, not sure though.

Tonight again showed the importance of keeping 11 players on the pitch if you are not massively better than your opponents. Their captain basically gave us the win.
Robertson & Paterson were clever tonight.
Robertson didn't jump in or get involved with their players or the referee in any way knowing a yellow would put him out of Tuesday nights game and Patterson after being booked played likewise knowing that the only way Albania could get back in the game was if Scotland had a player sent off.
A very professional Scotland performance after the Albanian sending off.

Paterson was probably the worst performer tonight, has positioning going into tackles was poor and led to his booking, quite why he was leading with his left into tackles whilst playing right back is anyone's guess.

And.....We were one nil up when the captain was sent off and controlling the game.

That's why I said the only way back in for them was us getting a sending off and Paterson was the most likely candidate after his yellow card. At 1-0 and an extra player I would have taken him off and put Shinnie on. Given McLeish kept him on I thought he was concentrating on not fouling Grezda instead of tackling him because he was worried about giving the referee the chance to even things up. This contributed heavily to his poor performance.

One thing about playing Shinnie is you know he won’t get booked for his first 8 or 9 fouls in a game so you might be right!

Callum Paterson has been playing up front and has 3 in his last 4 in the premier league.

He is originally a right back, and under the circumstances, I can see why he’s playing there though.:dunno:

Callum Paterson has always been a utility player, albeit a very useful one. He's equally comfortable playing in a number of positions without necessarily being so good you just have to shoehorn him in somewhere.

I thought he did fine tonight, even if he does sport the "sex offender chic" look favoured by so many with associations to his former employers.

Struggling to be arsed about this but at least it's a win so that's good. Let myself be emotionally committed to the national team and then kicked in the baa-baas too many times before to easily go that road again. Albania is a bit meh for me but they have to start somewhere I suppose so why not here?

Utterly pathetic, and usually irritating. On this occasion it’s actually quite amusing seeing them STILL going out their way to try and put their own country down after a positive performance and result.

Pretty much sums up how I feel.

Used to love going to the Scotland games. Forgot the game was on tonight. Good result away from home regardless of the opposition though.

I think we'll get beaten on Tuesday which will send tonight's happy clappers into despair again. Hope I'm wrong.

I think ticket pods as long as they last is normal practice - in which case you’ll be fine.

Maybe worth an email or tweet just to double check though. You can select your seat if you buy online just now.

Buy online and pickup at Hamden before the game. Check pickup times as I seem to remember having to go through very early. But that was maybe because I didn’t know where pickup point was

I get the overall negativity at times and poor performances , that we have seen, when individuals, the manager and the whole team get pelters. Why is it that we never give pelters to the players who reject playing for their country, pull out of squads readily and regularly, maybe / probably we would be a far better team if some.of this lot showed loyalty and committment to their cointry. It doesn't feel there is a the same problem with players.in other countries.

An interesting question.

the man paid (presumably good money) to co-commentate on Scotland matches, Davie provan, often gives excuses for these players in his column, saying that they should prioritise their club and their earnings ahead of playing for Scotland. Funnily enough, I don’t remember him saying the same about players choosing not to play for England, etc.
