You are technically wrong but I’m with you.

Rebranding to a four letter acronym was yet another terrible decision from those in charge.

Who cares? It’s clear what folk mean even if they do get it slightly wrong.

I'm gonna call it the A league. Because it's a league. Should cut out the confusion.

Sign of the times when everything has to be dressed up with fancy names just to make it sound more grand. How I long for the days of the first and second divisions none of this Premiership and Championship nonsense.

As this is already a pedant's paradise, can I point out that 'SPFL' isn't actually an acronym.

Aaaaaaanyway, bye!

It is if you say it like 'spiffle'

Clever, like it. Feels a bit overstated for our league though.

I think we should bring back Division 1 and 2, preferably with Arthur Montford and Sunday afternoon Scotsport.

I refuse to call it the Premiership given how ***** a rebrand it was.

"Let's copy the English format word for word", out ****ing standing creativity.

"Championship" is the worst.

It's the second tier, so winning it makes you champion of nothing. All the winner gets, and indeed wants, is the automatic promotion to the top division.

UEFA started it with 'Champions' League. Nothing of the sort.

The Foregone Conclusion
The Grind
The 'when did they end up there?'
The Highlanders don't fancy it

A bit of truth in the naming of the leagues wouldn't go amiss.

Did we have the “Premier Division” before the English Premier League was established? Or have I just made that up?

We did. But the actual breakaway happened in 1998.

Does anyone actually care? It was a cack handed unimaginative "rebrand" that muddied the waters yet further.

It's the SPL for me.

Japan have the J-League. We could have the S-League. The 'S' wouldn't necessarily have to stand for 'Scotland'.

It's no been the SPL for 5 and a half years, you may as well call it the First Division, makes a mockery of the League when fans of big clubs in it cant even get the name right.

It waa a disaster of a rebrand but it is what it is, harking back to the old name is even lazier than the rebrand itself

How many of us call a vacuum cleaner a hoover and when you do, does anyone correct you or care if it is actually a different make and brand name? Nah.
(That is assuming folk know what a vacuum cleaner/hoover is.)
