BBC and Premier have got the rights for the Scottish Cup from this season. 2 games each every round from when we're involved so that's one more than last year overall.

So that means Sky has lost another sporting event?

My first thought would usually be no David Tanner but even he’s left.

So the Scottish FA are selling the rights to the 'Sevco' of TV. Premier Sports are Setanta. The people who caused the TV rights collapse in Scotland in the first place.

Looking at the bigger picture, Sky, who have always had the Scottish Cup since they/BSB launched in 1989, are obviously putting their money into the league.

Added to that BT are giving up on Scottish Football. They would have had the chance to bid for this competition. Their league deal is up in 2020 and their League Cup deal is up in 2020. Remember BT need to bid big to keep Sky, Premier Sports and BT honest, it looks like those who 'care' don't actually want to part with cash.

what they're saying is the inevitable Edinburgh derby 4th round game will be on premier sport...

so the working man will have to fork out for a 3rd channel to watch Scottish football on. The SFA and SPFL are a shower who don't give a flying **** about the fans.

On the flip side, given that we are always moaning about the poor TV deals we have, is this not a boost to the game?

There are 3 other options.

1 - go to the game

2 - watch it in a pub.

3 - watch it in your house on the BBC.

3. watch it in your house on the BBC.

Premier Sports and BBC have exclusive rights so if its on Premier it wont be on BBC.

A lot more will now after today’s news. They also shoes the European matches so same pubs will have these games. Alternatively just iptv it.

Only finally remembered to cancel my premier sports last week after joining for the europa league qualifiers! Looks like I’ll be rejoining a lot sooner than I thought 😄

I don’t get the complaints. Some people moan about the SFA and SPFL striking poor deals then when they take the deal offering the most money they moan about that. If a match being covered involves Hibs then go to the game or watch it in the pub if it’s on PS or your TV if it’s on BBC.

I only noticed it on my bank statement this month.

Now I'll need to decide whether to cancel it with a view to restarting it or just let it keep going.

I've not even thought about watching it since the final whistle of our game in Molde.

I was the same mate, kept forgetting I had it. Quick and easy phone call to cancel, no pressure to stay with them, just asked which team I had joined to watch.

I will sign up again if they show us in the cup and probably make the same mistake again 😄

Don’t see what the problem is with Premier Sport. If they give us a decent deal then what’s not to like?
After 2016 Sky probably felt they had had scaled as high as they could with the Scottish Cup - not surprised they are not as fussed about it now..

League should go to the highest bidder (that can afford it) and cups should go to the bigger audience to showcase the game. They'll get about 7 people watching Premier Sports.

20m over six years, which I’m reading is a 15-20% drop in real terms compared to the current deal? That’s coming from Keith jackson in the record but if it’s true that’s pretty grim. Especially considering they are showing more games than currently, which in turn means more kick offs moved from 3pm Saturday to accommodate.
