Time to bring this little chestnut up again.

If this was introduced and clubs were held liable for violent/sectarian behaviour from their fans (including points deductions), the problem would be stamped out overnight as sectarianism would no longer be profitable/easy marketing for Celtic and Rangers, and the ********s that come to games for fights would soon toe the line once their fellow fans (who actually gave a **** about, you know, actually winning things) put a stop to it.

I am concerned however that if we introduced it here it would cover anything up to but not including sectarianism.

Absolutely time for it to be introduced but we would need the United Nations to monitor it. Football authorities in Scotland couldn't be trusted to apply sanctions fairly.

Of course it should be brought in.

Start with a couple of warnings, then a couple of fines, then a couple of points deductions, then close the areas of the stadium that persist.

The decent fans won't get involved, making it easier to identify the troublemakers who can then be banned.

I am very much in favour in principle however if it is the SFA enforcing it then we all know that there would be a flexible approach towards its application. You only need to compare the mass hysteria and condemnation to Wednesdays game compared to the sweep it under the carpet/special atmosphere that is applied to the Rangers/celtic games.

I don’t think we could trust the authorities to apply it fairly.

Never gonna happen and would not work, too many vested interests. After all if you were a Turkey would you vote for Xmas.

It would be a mask to a much wider problem.

Sectarianism rears its ugly head most openly at football games, but make no mistake about it - it's a much, much wider societal issue.

It would be a step to quell some of the nonsense we've seen at football in recent months, no doubt. But it would need to be alongside a much larger programme of work to eradicate this cancer from society.

To posters really believe that the clubs will bring in a system to punish them because morons misbehave? Turkeys voting for Christmas. It’s really worked for Celtic in Europe hasn’t it with the club regularly fined because fans do what they’ve been specifically asked not to do.?Anyone who thinks that a lunatic who throws something not caring whether it hits friend or foe is capable of rational thought is an optimist of the top grade.
