I think there were about 3000 of us doing similar on Wednesday in the away end so we obviously deserved to all be coined. Absolute crap. He may deserve to get some verbals but he doesn't deserve to be assaulted. I actually quite enjoy when players and managers give it back after getting it tight from fans (football tight not religious bigotry or racial hatred). It shows to me that they get the rivalry and the banter and I usually nod and think fair play. You would have to be a moron to be provoked into assaulting someone for what Lennon did.

There are plenty of people on this board who have said if you go to a Derby at Tynecastle then you have to accept what goes on and one even suggested that folk complaining about it should "man up"

Same goes for Lennon then I guess, if you gesture to a crowd of hate fuelled erseholes and incite them then you should just take what comes. Lennon obviously needs to "man up" too. :aok:

If I was sitting in a Hearts pub with my Hibs top on watching the game on Wednesday and smiling arms outstretched gesturing and telling them all to sit down after the goal not being given. I wouldn’t be doing anything wrong but would expect a reaction. I might even expect some sort of assault. Especially if I knew even a minority of them actually hated me. I wouldnt do it

I understand the point your making, but I'd say it's not wholly comparable due to the fact that you've walked into the pub on your own free will and Lennon is in Tynecastle as part of his job.

He may have an abrasive personality that some people don't like, or people will say because of which he brings it on himself - maybe he does to some degree. But everyone has limits to the abuse they can endure. The line for Lennon, quite rightly, it seems is racism (or sectarianism if people want to differentiate.)

They were calling him a F****n b*****d for 90 minutes, so when something like a disallowed goal happens last minute, being human, he reacted. If thousands of people were calling me a Scottish b*****d, I'd probably have reacted in a similar fashion - it wouldn't be ideal, but I wouldn't walk away from that situation feeling that I my actions were unjustified.
