Now we know we'll have five more players to choose from, what will we go with? Personally would favour a flat 4-4-2.

Formation gets most players in to their natural position which I think we’ve lacked. I’m not particularly convinced by Slivka but there aren’t that many options in there.

I’d be surprised if Milligan starts.
I know he is coming from a training camp, but no matches are planned there against outside opposition.
It’s been a while since he played, so match fitness must be a consideration.

All these 4-4-2s....our worst performances always come from 4-4-2s, remember Ambrose getting torn apart in Aberdeen last season? Led us to adopting the 3-5-2, and since then our form has been superb (until the 4-4-2 on Saturday in Livi)

I can see this being our team for a lot of the season ahead, with Laidlaw (Bogdan when Rocky back), Hyndman, Agyepong, Daz, Marv, Slivka and Shaw giving us options from the bench

4-4-2 is probably coming from Lennon's comments about changing formation after the livi game.

I took that to mean, he tried it, but it didn't work and he needs to get back to the drawing board? I think Efe is great, offers us an outlet at the back, along with Hanlon, balances really well, but neither are as strong in a back 4

We were 4-3-3 against Aberdeen at Pittodrie were we not? Murray up top with Barker and Boyle out wide, with Stokes coming on at half time when we were already 3-0 down.

4-4-2 can work with the right personnel IMO. It needs two strikers that press the ball, which is why it didn't work with Stokes up top early in the season, but did work when we played it against Celtic with Kamberi and MacLaren.

That being said I still wouldn't play it on Saturday. I don't think we have two midfielders that could hold it down like McGinn and McGeouch did.

Kamberi going to be out for a long time.

That's not what NL's saying in the EEN.

“Flo has been away to get some rehab in Switzerland. We’re hoping he will be back for the first game, he just needed some rest and treatment. “The Livingston game was too soon for him but the rest was important to settle it down completely so it’s not a major issue.”

yip, i posted at the time that i had a similar thing a few years ago, i had to get key hole surgery to get it cleaned out, physio can only do so much, if he has to get surgery then will be a good few weeks out unfortunately

There a fair bit of hype around Hyndman from my Rangers supporting mates. I would love to see him get a start and see what he can do.

There a fair bit of hype around Hyndman from my Rangers supporting mates. I would love to see him get a start and see what he can do.

I think he's looked pretty handy in patches, pretty ineffectual at other times.

He looks to me like he could be effective as a number 10, playing off Kamberi with any of Boyle, Horgan or Agyepong out wide.

My Sevconian mate told me he was immense at times (when played in the right position) and anonymous at others (they often played him wide, where he struggled).

Means no place for Mallan though.

Think we need to be more solid. Having the two holding midfielders if you like allows one to drop in if a defender steps into midfield or when fullbacks drive on. Think this shape is the way to go for us. A spell on the bench could do ambrose the world of good.

It looks like Ambrose is immune from being dropped while Lennon is here, We play a back 3 and have 3 fit CH's, unless we go to a back 4 Ambrose will play, even then I think Lennon would still pick him. He's made a good few mistakes this season and knowing you won't be dropped isn't good, Porteous has come in and been outstanding for a youngster but I can't see Lennon dropping Ambrose for him. If McGregor comes back in, Porteous will drop out.

I saw Kamberi last week during the day, he was walking across George St, he looked to be walking alright, no limp or anything, so maybe his knee isn't as bad as people are thinking.

I think its more that the midfield hasn’t bedded in yet and leaves the defence exposed.

That team would worry me in the centre.

Although Horgan and Mallan have a touch more bite that I expected I suspect that midfield would finish second best and expose the fact we only had two centre backs.

The other thing I like about three at the back is that Lennon is clearly looking for Hanlon to play a flexible role - we're three at the back if under the cosh but he makes an extra midfielder who can make decent runs if we're on top.

I'll be honest - I really like the players we've bought but I'm not seeing an obvious formation and line up.
Probably a good job I'm not the manager ;)
