I’m sure many of us are aware of Social Bite, the cafe (now with a few branches) set up to help homeless people, with many of the staff being homeless or formerly homeless themselves. I was in this morning for the first time in a while and was pleased to find the standard as good as ever - a good sized roll with plenty of bacon on it, and a coffee, plus a suspended coffee for someone to claim, gave me plenty of change from a fiver. What pleased me any more was the amount of notes behind the counter showing the suspended coffees and meals that had been bought this morning. It’s great to see that, although we’re having a lot of tough times in this country, the spirit of human compassion is still on show.

The affiliated restaurant has recently rebranded as well. Not been myself but have heard good reviews.
