I've just finished watching the Wolves game and the players are just off the pitch and folk are taking the nets down.

I've often wondered what are the reasons for this.

Nets and goals are usually removed right away simply to keep them in good condition.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I thought that might be a reason. Dust, rain, seagulls and strong winds will all cause deterioration.

I just wondered if there was something else, but that's fair enough. 👍

Bit off topic I always wondered why schools and public parks remove goalposts during the summer. Surely that’s when they should leave them up and let the kids play.

You've got too much time your hands. Thinking hard about life's little mysteries. Maybe me laugh tho

4.5mm thick braided polyethylene – The number 1 choice for any football club or 3G pitch, this premium net is the finest choice for all users. The braided polyethylene gives the net a ‘softer touch’ feel and is used by numerous premiership clubs every year.

Doubt a few minutes more outside would damage them.

More likely the groundsmen want off sharpish!

There’s a very simple explanation for this. It’s because the council are a shower of ****s.

Its to stop the seagulls having a knock about after they have consumed their pie and pizza leftovers at the end of the game

Probably to prevent the groundsman from having to untangle wee birdies from them on Monday morning. 😁 👍

A few paint an athletics track and/or a cricket pitch instead of the football/rugby. Waste of time and money.

They used to take all the tape off them and repaint them, to have them looking good for the new season. This stopped a few seasons ago...

Groundsman responsible for them and is required to take them down and put them somewhere secure before going home after the game.
Obviously if they were left up they would be chored.
