Agree, I think by his very high standards, it's total crap.

And actually, his much vaunted high profile interviews of politicians have been terrible, Cheney et al saw him coming a mile off and played everything with a straight bat.

Yeah, true. Although go to any number of small Scottish towns and tell them you are building a Catholic cathedral (or a super mosque for that matter), and I think the reaction would be similar.

I stopped watching when he was speaking to the woman artist.

I thought the idea was that he would have fun with gullible people. It turns out we're the gullible ones if we believe that wasn't a complete set up.

I liked him as Ali G, but after that it's definitely not my cup of tea.

Loved Ali G, Borat and Bruno but this has been pretty poor by his high standards. Although the trap a Mexican was funny, but almost unbelievable that people would fall for that.

I think his talent lies not in comedy, instead his art is to lure people into a sense of security where they feel comfortable enough to drop their guard. He does this in 2 ways, his subjects either believe that they are talking to a concordant thinker or they feel vastly superior to the blithering idiot. Either way it gives a short but telling glimpse behind the mask which can sometimes be funny but also cringingly uncomfortable to watch. I'd love him to get in about the old firm.

I loved him when he was fresh and original. Now it just feels staged, whether it is or not is somewhat irrelevant for me. It feels that way so it's less fun.

I watched the 1st coupe of episodes of the latest series and it could have been a repeat of what he was doing 15 years ago. Still raises the odd chuckle but it was all bit so so.

Political satire ain't funny any more. Things are too serious now. In the day we'd have laughed at, say, Spitting Image for lampooning the Cabinet or whatever. Boris Johnson and Trump would have been a gift to them. Now, we're too demoralised to laugh.

Cohen gets his success from fooling gullible folk into behaving with their guard down. Good luck to him I suppose. Ali G was good - about twenty years ago!

I think a big part of the problem with him is that with the advent of rolling news, smart phones, social media and so on there's no hiding place for politicians and public figures and we have all seen examples of them letting their guard down without being tricked into it.
