Never really considered that Mallan is young enough for that, just think of him as an experienced first team player. Although having just looked, he’s 22 and a half, so not sure how he’s playing u21, he’s not even that close?

At what age do you stop getting selected for the under 21s?

(mallan being 22 before anyone points out "21" as the obvious answer. :greengrin )

The team is for players born in the year 21 years before the starting year of each tournament. In this case, it's 1996 or later.

As each tournament normally takes two years to complete, players can continue to play for the under-21 team after their 22nd birthday.

So, in theory, you could find 23 year olds in the team.
