Westminster on lockdown this morning - a male driver appears to have driven a silver Ford Focus into a group of cyclists and pedestrians at speed (being described as "seemingly deliberate" by witnesses), before smashing into one of the security bollards.

I just don't see the logic in "attacking" the most protected building in the most protected city in the country. Surely the best way to create terror within the populous is to attack a less likely target in a less obvious place. That's what made the Manchester Arena attack so terrifying.

Fingers cross this isn't the start of a new series of attacks like a few years back.

Given that parliament is on holiday at the moment, I think we can assume this lad is not a leading member of the Brains Trust.

BBC described him as "British citizen....who originally came from another country"

😂

Fantastic, I'm just awaiting "mental issues" and "lone wolf" for a line, when Khan comes out with "defiantly going about our business" I'm looking good for a full house.

I always find it says a lot about how de-sensetized we’ve became to these attacks when what should be a very big incident receives 4 post on the relevant thread in a full day.

Could have and probably should have been a very big incident it but it was a seriously rubbish attempt at a terror attack

I don't ever like hearing about these things though and my thoughts goe out to the people hurt

Another copy cat incident carried out by a looney not getting his hole and hoping to get some attention. The more we see this kind of madness the more it's likely to happen. It's a guaranteed way for sad ****s to get the attention they crave. My thoughts are with the innocent victims and I won't be remembering this guys name like he'd want us to.

Just seen the video. It could be described as either:

a. "an attempted terrorist attack"

or

b. "man crashes into barrier at low speed causing minor damage to his car"

Just the tip of the iceberg maybe?

"A total of 676 terrorism investigations by MI5 and counterterrorism police were underway by the end of June this year, up from around 500 just four months before" - The Independent.
