View Full Version : A Friendly Reminder From The Admin Team

In recent weeks it has become clear a number of posters have become increasingly aggressive or abusive towards others. The forum is intended as a place for healthy and robust debate. We welcome strong opinions and appreciate the emotional nature of football. We all understand the frustrations and excitement around transfers and other important areas. However the current trend towards 'playing the man' is making the boards increasingly unpleasant. Everyone is capable of showing respect to others viewpoints and debating a topic without making threats or engaging in personal abuse. This includes name calling, accusations of being a Hearts fan without foundation, wishing ill on another poster, veiled threats and other behaviour which is detrimental to others enjoyment of the boards.

As such we are reminding all posters of the infraction system we have in place. Any abuse directly aimed at others can result in a warning, infraction points added to your account, a temporary ban or a permanent ban. None of the measures listed are things we particularly enjoy doing so we'd appreciate your cooperation in improving the board for all of us.

Thanks as always for your support

A Friendly Reminder From The Admin Team

........ and a timely reminder. The personal bickering recently is blatantly obvious and unnecessary. I don’t hide the fact that I visit ( but don’t post ) other football forums and, while some of the content you read there can be obnoxious, the personal feuding is less than we have on our forum.

The clique?

He’s not wrong. There are cliques in any community and hibs.net isn’t immune to it. I can see how that would put some folk off posting. Saying that, there is also lots of hyper-sensitivity with folk getting proper arsey if folk disagree with them.

😂

I agree with the admins. Let's keep the nasty stuff off the site and not go down the route of certain other fan forums we have seen links to on here.

:agree:

Something that would help greatly is people posting why they have a certain opinion.

There's a massive difference between posting something about thinking Whittaker's legs have gone and being concerned that it results in him losing his man worryingly often and posting "Whittaker is gash" or "Get rid".

It's not a court of law but if you have an opinion that you offer with some backup then you're more likely to get a debate than a fight.

Genuine question, where there is petty bickering, and it's obvious that these members are consistently picking on other posters relentlessly rather than just putting them on ignore, could the admin team put the users on ignore instead?

I know it's a bit nanny state but if it saves other users having to wade through pages of posts between two users just fighting between themselves then maybe it's worth considering.
