Delighted, add to that Mallan and you could say that three of our top targets (I believe we have been monitoring Mallan for a while) are all in for our opening game of the league season!

This is almost like getting two players, because Jamie coming back releases Boyle again to where he can do most damage and that’s certainly not a bad thing. Hopefully now all the clubs efforts can be focused on getting Scott Allan back and we will certainly have the nucleus of a top four side for a second season, or why not higher. Add in the lad from Man City and perhaps another defender to offer more competition at the back and this squad really looks like it can do some damage - and if McGinn does go with all our thanks, then let’s push the boat out and bring in a surprise marquee signing to get the season tickets past 14,000 !! Speaks volumes of where the Club is at present that players who could probably earn more elsewhere are actively saying they want to come back to Hibs as they feel wanted and feel they can be developed into better players and they love the fans
Surely this has to see us reach 13,500 Season Ticket Holders. before Sunday's game with more signings to come

Great the Mac is Back .. but find it a bit odd why current club would loan out someone with only 2 yrs left on contract. His value will be a lot less with 12 months left.

Imagine Hibs will have option to buy next summer ?

That’s not really that odd? That’s about the normal length of contract players have left when they go on loan.

Allan had 2 years left on his contract last summer too when he was initially sent out on loan.

He doesn’t want to stay in Germany, we can’t afford his full wage, they don’t want to pay him off so all makes sense for them to find a club willing to pay a big chunk of his wage.

Then why not sell him now ? He's had a vg 6 months with Hibs, been added to the Aussie squad for the WC, and his stock must be pretty high. SA has a dodgy past and is only able to play for Hibs, so can see why no one willing to stump up for Scott.

Jamie Maclaren paid tribute to the Hibs support as he revealed the fans played a big part in his decision to return to the Capital club on a season-long loan from SV Darmstadt 98. The Australian striker, who could be involved on Sunday when Hibs take on Motherwell in the Ladbrokes Premiership opener, admitted it had been hard to ignore the passion of the Easter Road faithful.

Speaking to Hibs TV, Maclaren said: “The fans played a big part in me coming back. My social media was blowing up and, as a player, it’s nice to be wanted. “They have been on at me since the break, and when the fans say, ‘Please come back, you’re loved’, you sit back and think, I’m actually valued here. “They know what I can bring, I know what they can bring on a weekend, playing in front of them and scoring in front of them. The 25-year-old, who scored eight goals in 15 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side in the second half of last season, said he was proud to have sealed a return to Edinburgh.

“I really enjoyed last season, and having that taste of success, and now the decision has been made I’m just glad I’ve signed the deal,” he continued. “I think I know what I get from this club, and having a manager like Neil Lennon who backs me, and backs every player in the squad - that’s who you want to play for.” Maclaren’s partnership with Florian Kamberi was cited as a major factor in Hibs’ post-January form last season, with the pair scoring 17 goals between them, including a hat-trick apiece. Admitting he was looking forward to linking up with the Swiss striker once more, Maclaren added: “I’m looking forward to seeing all the boys.
“I made some really good friends here and it’s a great dressing room, and a real club that feels like a family.”

After the Rangers game, where I was watching from lower tier of exec seats over the dugouts, Neil Lennon made a bee-line for Maclaren, held Jamie’s head in his hands, faces almost touching. You could see the admiration and respect between player and coach.
They probably should have got a room.

I'm a huge fan of Jamie so very happy to see him back. A few stats, I'm sure we all know the 8 goals in 15 games stat however he actually only averaged 60 mins per game with only 892 mins played. This is the equivalent of 8 goals in 10 games and was the best strike rate in the league last seasons at a goal every 112 minutes.

In the 15 games he played, Jamie only played the whole match twice. The 2nd of which was in the last game against Rangers where he got a hat-trick and scored in the 70th minute and 3rd minute of injury time.

I get that if we want to change things with about 25 minutes to go then the obvious change to make might be to bring Jamie off however this season, if we need a goal, I'd really like to see us stick with him for the full 90 minutes, given his prolific strike rate, and make the changes in midfield instead.

Fantastic news, he seems to link up well with Kamberi and to have the partnership back together is more than we could have hoped for. I think Mallan is looking like he's going to be a very good acquisition in midfield so compensates well for the probable loss of SJM and the absence of Allan …. we need one more quality midfield player and for the lad from Man City to hit the ground running ( I'll learn his name when he's announced :greengrin ) and IMO we are good to go.

What a week its been …. if we were somehow to get Scott Allan back and persuade SJM to sign on for another season I think I would buy another season ticket on top of the one I already have coz it would be worth twice the price to watch that team on the park

Just watched his interview. What a testament to Hibs fans that one of his major reasons for returning was being wanted by us fans, and the love he's been shown, even since his loan ended.

Can also see him bursting to smile when talking about the dressing room. That can only be a positive thing.

Col2
04-08-2018, 09:44 AM
He knows all the players, it’s almost like he has had an extended pre season and never left. Needs to get match fit but will settle in perfectly.

Just need Barker to sign and then hopefully Allan and we have the forward options that are absolutely top drawer.
