From what I can make out, if we beat Molde, one of these teams awaits us.

Maribor?? Does that mean there is potential for us to meet Rangers if we both win our ties? That would be something, wouldn’t it?🤪

No, there will be country protection.

Hopefully get Genk, Copenhagen or (some other *****) someone like that

Copenhagen the best out of that for me in terms of having a chance. Finished below Brondby last season. Who have they got in the next round?

Gent/k or Maccabi probably give us the best chance, failing that any team that manages to knock out one of the seeds. Anyone above Copenhagen on that list will **** us.

Last season’s positions:

Copenhagen - 4th in Denmark behind Brondby, Midtjylland and Nordsjælland.
Gent - 4th in Belgium.
Genk - 5th in Belgium - 6 points behind Gent.
Steaua Bucharest - 2nd in Romania, behind Cluj.
Feyenoord - 4th in Eredivisie behind AZ Alkmaar.
Maccabi Tel Aviv - 3rd in Israel behind Beitar Jerusalem.
Braga - 4th in Portugal behind Porto, Benfica and Sporting.
Basel - 2nd in Switzerland behind Young Boys (ooh err)
Olympiacos - 3rd in Greece - 12 points ahead of Asteras Tripoli.
Zenit - 5th in Russia, behind Krasnodar and the 3 Moscow teams.
Besiktas - 4th in Turkey, but only 4 points off winning the league.
Sevilla - 7th in Spain behind Villarreal and Betis.

If we knock out Molde, would we not take/inherit their seeding for the playoff game?

Would take a Gen* Belgian or Copenhagen with a view to progress. But failing that bring on Sevilla for the memories!

I don’t think they will be seeded for the next round. Might be wrong though.

You are right Molde would be unseeded so therefore so would we

How do Feyenoord have the lowest coefficient there?

And do we not now have Asteras' coefficient, which might be more likely to see us seeded than Molde's?

The fact I have already used up every single one of my 30 days holiday is depressing me even more now :boo hoo:

They haven't played yet! They enter at QR3.

We had Asteras' coeff in the draw for QR3, because the game hadn't been played yet. Similarly, we have Molde's coeff in the draw for QR4. Sadly not enough to get seeded.

I'd fancy Basel. Beautiful city, easy to get to and hundreds of Hibbies doing the Rheinschwimmen would be a sight to behold! :greengrin

What about the teams dropping out of the Champions League? Celtic or AEK Athens, for example, will be parachuted into EL.

Benfica v Fenerbahce & Slavia Prague v Dinamo Kiev are other biggish ties in the CL 3rd qualifying round.

Also note there's a Malmo v Videoton tie - brings back mixed emotions...

* We'll be in the 'main path', while Celtic or AEK go into 'champions path' for domestic title holders - but not all teams in CL round are champs - Benfica & Fenerbahce both runners up.

Teams dropping out of the CL and into EL QR4 go into the "Champions path" part of the draw which is kept separate from the "main path" bit we're in, so we can't draw them.

So we think all teams from CL go into champions path, regardless of whether or not they are title holders? That makes it easier to understand.

Some great names / places in the main path, like Sevilla, Bordeaux, Sparta Prague, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Copenhagen, Vitesse...

Molde will be tough though, need a big night at Easter Road...

Yes, I think that's the case for teams that lose in CL QR3 anyway.

No, the champions only go into the champions section. Hence the name. The other teams ie Basel drop into our section

Not in EL QR4 (aka the playoff round).

A couple of "non-champion" teams that lost in CL QR2 went into EL QR3. The "non-champion" losers from CL QR3 go straight to the EL group stage. There are only "champions path" losers from CL QR3 dropping into EL QR4 (Celtc or AEK will be one of those).

We just don't usually get this far without a stern warning that we're underestimating someone or counting our chickens, even though OZ made it clear in his post it was IF we got past Molde. :greengrin

The list posted earlier is of the seeded teams only - if they lose their tie us or Molde would play the winner of that game.

Going by Wikipedia, and as far as I can tell, Monday's draw will have us or Molde vs the winner of one of the following ties:

Sevilla (Spain) or Zalgiris (Lithuania)
Zenit Saint Petersburg (Russia) or Dinamo Minsk (Belarus)
Basel (Switzerland) or Vitesse Arnhem (Netherlands)
Beşiktaş (Turkey) or LASK Linz (Austria)
Olympiacos (Greece) or Luzern (Switzerland)
Copenhagen (Denmark) or CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria)
Braga (Portugal) or Zorya Luhansk (Ukraine)
FC Steaua Bucharest (Romania) or Hadjuk Split (Croatia)
Gent (Belgium) or Jagiellonia Białystok (Poland)
Genk (Belgium) or Lech Poznan (Poland)
Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) or Pyunik (Armenia)
Feyenoord (Netherlands) or Trencin (Slovakia)

As noted earlier we can't be drawn against the winner of Maribor vs the huns, for obvious reasons.

Lech Poznan and Hadjuk Split would fancy themselves in their ties I would imagine.
