I heard he still talks about the day he was on the same pitch as Lewis Stevenson

He was subbed at half time IIRC.

Good video, thanks for sharing it.

10 years on and 5 players that played that day are still with their teams. Stevenson and Hanlon for us and Messi, Piqué and Busquets for Barca.

Anyone remember the scorers from that day? I want to say Geojohnsen (former Chelsea) scored a hat trick but my memories not great

That was a great occasion. What impressed me most was how hard Barcelona worked on and off the ball. Was that the start of the season where Guardiola won everything?

I’m not usually envious of supporters of other clubs but imagine being a season ticket holder at Barca for the last 30 years. You’d have seen Diego Maradona, Romario, Rivaldo, Riquelme, Ronaldino and Messi, and that’s just their number 10’s.

There was a guy beside us who left at 3-0, raging. No idea what he was expecting to happen, to be honest.

Riquelme was a true number 10, sublimely talented but maybe not overly consistent and he had goals in him.

The Barca game was Steven Thicot's Hibs debut. I thought he oozed class but it didn't work out for him after Mixu left. Only 31 now.

I mind going absolutely tonto in Murrayfield that night that there was folk clapping when they scored their goals and absolutely furious we were getting pumped off them. 10 months later they’d won the treble :greengrin

I was in the press area that night and went to the press conference afterwards with a Barca shirt to get them to sign, but apparently it was 'unprofessional' to get it signed so left with it blank. IIRC it was Guardiola's first match in charge of Barca.

My abiding memory of the presser was one of the Hibs TV guys asking Guardiola if any of the Hibs players impressed him (it was around the time of the Fletcher/Real Madrid link). His reply 'The number 11 was very fast'. Barca should have signed him up there and then...
