Just realised that there’s a full programme of Betfred Cup ties on tonight
Must have missed it, but Kilmarnock are in town at Spartans.

Also the new hybrid pitch at Tynie will be making its debut, wonder if they’ll cut the grass before they play Cowdenbeath?

Could be an interesting evening, which will go a long way to positioning the group winners and runners up

While I fully expect the Jambos to win by five clear goals tonight, wouldn’t it be a hoot if they failed to consolidate the connivance and corruption of the blazered organisers, who won’t be best pleased with Budge and Levein if they once again make them look like idiots.

Special atmosphere, world class pitch, vital Hearts are through to next round etc etc.

Always expected Hearts to win tonight so an ICT win is important.

ICT are 4 goals better off so if margins of victory are the same in tonight's games then Hearts will have to beat them by 3 on Sunday to top the group (assume it goes to most goals if goal diffs are equal).

Derby in the last 16 anyone? (Our turn to be at home).

What does this mean for hearts going into the last game

Do hearts need to win to get second place? Can second place get them into the knock out stages (or does it depend on the other groups)

Since I posted Raith have equalised against ICT and Hearts have scored another but yes, if Hearts and ICT both win tonight and Hearts then beat them on Sunday it is possible Hearts will be 2nd and will have to rely on being one of the 4 best 2nd placed teams. Though as they'll be the final game of the group stage they will know what is required.

I like the new format of the LC. If the authorities hadn’t changed it then they’d be criticised for being stagnant dinosaurs or whatever cliches people come away with. Now that they have changed the format to living things up and make it a bit more exciting and yet still people aren’t happy.

Is playing for a bonus point through via penalty shootout any different to playing for points in some of the mind numbing end of season dead rubbers that are churned out year after year

Damned if they do... damned if they don’t...

It might not be meaningless as the bonus point could affect whether they'd qualify as one of the best second place finishers.

A quirk of the bonus point system is that if St Mirren get a fourth shootout win on Saturday they could top their group without having won a game.

"sprayed it about like Fulton"

"Going to be a great season for this lad"

"Outstanding player, he's ridiculously skilful"

It was Cowdenbeath with 10 men ffs!
