Is this something the club will explore? It’s been done for Tartan Army trips in the past.

Perfect location for a charter in on the morning of the game and out straight after.

No hotels needed etc, in and out.

I think the main costs are associated with the amount of time spent on the runway. A quick in out day trip might be affordable.

The club charter will be expensive.

I went with them to Budapest when we played Videoton in 1988. I think it was over £400 then although that did include a couple of night's accommodation.

That equates to over £1000 now.

There's a ferry from Denmark to the Faroes that leaves on the 17th and arrives on the 18th, return 20th-21st. €210 with 1 person in a dorm room and no vehicle. Edinburgh to Copenhagen flight starts at about £160.

Not going to work out any cheaper than flying time you add in accomodation and so on. Think I'll hedge my bets that we will get through and wait for the next round.

There's only one Faroese airport (notoriously fogbound) - on the island of Vagur which is linked by sub-sea tunnel to Streymoy, where the game will be played. Or you can go by public helicopter within the isles. it you can go, don't miss it - stunningly beautiful place, brilliant people and very serious about their fitba. I've been three times and sorely vexed that I won't get the chance to go this time. It's no backwater despite being mid-Atlantic - standard of living is higher than here and place is Scandinavianly spotless. And, by the way - it's Faroe or Faroe Islands, not Faroes. There used to be a boat from Shetland (14 hour trip) and way back one from Scrabster but not now for either.

I said in previous piece that game would be in Streymoy - I was assuming they'd move it to the stadium in Torshavn, which has been done for some previous games. But if they do decide to stay in Runavik it's in Eysturoy (linked to Streymoy by a short bridge). It's about 40 mins drive from Torshavn - slightly longer from the airport in Vagar. It's a very basic ground - totally open with a few bench seats.

On Facebook its hinted that Hibs are trying to charter an aircraft for this but I think it will be out on the Wednesday and right back after the match on Thursday, given the lack of accommodation and difficulty to get to this would cost upwards of £700 big ones given that Brondby was £750 for one night in a B + B.

440 miles from Edinburgh.

Fully expecting the Proclaimers to walk this. At least.

Prices will come down again, they usually do after the initial mad rush. I paid £100 return to Bratislava for a trip at the end of May. Booked it away back in January and just a week before the trip the flights had dropped down to £60 return.

I hope so but that's not always the case. I went to book a flight to Poland for a family wedding and I waited and waited as the price climbed and climbed. It never came back down. All the Scottish guests were on the same plane and they had to fly on these flights. On other occasions the price halved...

I made a discreet enquiry with a charter company, they wanted roughly £700 a head before factoring in the airport costs at Edi and in the Faroes. That was based on 75 passengers.

Two weeks AI in Tenerife for that!

Thats 52 grand, what about a plane that seats say 300 folk? Bound to bring the cost down a bit?

I think the biggest they could source instantly was 180.

Thats not a bad size to be fair, back of a fag packet stuff how much it be roughly per head?

Literally around £700. I'd imagine that they heard football fans and added on a couple of hundred per head.

I’m getting asked if there is a charter flight for the Faroe Islands. I’ve got one booked for the Club and truth be told there are some seats available so we will look at this over the weekend. Would be out late on the 17th and returning after the game."

As I said I went with the official charter to Copenhagen which was only one night B&B and straight back after the game and the cost was £750. I would imagine Faroes will be around the same cost.

And your behaviour was impeccable so maybe you will be allowed a repeat!

Wonder how they’ll do it? Loyalty points, online free for all scramble, AST holders or auction to the highest bidders?

I reckon the latter would be best.

It’s another option. How about those that went to AEK for the game that never was?

That’s a shame, just need to see what hibs have on offer now
When they went to Malmo, they only hired a small plane, Copenhagen was a bigger one I believe

And the plane to Athens was massive!

I was one of them as well but I also went back the next week with the official charter cost way back then was £500

I think fans who wear their loyalty on their sleeve by referencing their allegiance in their username should get on for free.
