Wolves sign Afobe last week, and try to sign him this week, make a £2k profit
Maybe we should try that with Kamberi😄

Hibs signed Paul Holsgrove for a (small) fee from a club who had picked him up on a free transfer. Not McLeish’s finest hour!

Story also mentions Wolves about to sign a full back for £35M from Inter. Welcome (back) to the Premiership.

Weeks of waiting on Kamberi to be announced. If it actually happens we're going to need daily posts telling us that we're not going to sell him. :greengrin

Did Rangers not do this with Paul Ritchie, sign him on a free and sell him for a profit before season started?

Not the same situation but it reminds me of when we gave Brebner a new contract at the start of the summer (after being out of contract) then let him go to Dundee United for free at the end of the summer.

Yep signed him on a bosman from Hearts in June 2000 and then sold him to Manchester City in August 2000 for £500,000.

There’s a few players been signed and sold to us on hibs.net as ‘players’ within a few days, but that’s as close as I can get for further examples :)

Best and worst example (depending on how you look at it) must be Didier Agathe.
Stormed it with us for a few weeks, then Celtic came knocking by the end of August.
The rest, as they say, is history.:rolleyes:

Thats because we we only gave him a 3 month contract, he played extremely well, then dragged out contract talks with us as his head had been turned by Celtic, until we were forced to accept a peasly bid from Celtic or see him go for nothing at all. This was pre transfer window so he was able to play for them immediately.

when Scott Brown went to Celtic, he played outstandingly in his first few games, so much so that Newcastle offered £9m for him before the end of that window, more than double what Celtic paid us for him, in the space of a couple of months.

Palace wanted to sign Allen but Arsenal piped them. Arsenal then decided they wanted Kenny Sansom from Palace and traded Allen plus cash for Sansom. Palace then bought Flanagan from Charlton and had a front two of Flanagan and Allen which was amusing for a few hours as that was the name of a comedy duo from the days of music hall. Allen did an early version of a Griffiths non goal as he scored a brilliant free kick which didn't just cross the line, it hit the back stanchion and bounced straight out again and the ref waved play on. This was one of the reasons that stanchions were done away with. Not a lot of people know that.
