Not to mention the £ 30 million they get from one of the world's poorest countries.

Is this the guy who owns the launderette on Albert Square? Pretty sure I've heard Dot Cotton mentioning him.

He’s got a job on his hands to live up to his Brazilian namesake, the Socrates. I didn’t know that he died 9 years ago at the age of 57.

If that falls through they'll probably go for Berkeley as he's not getting much of a game for Chelski. Not sure if he's even in the quad most weeks.

Maybe Jim44 knew that. What he didn't know was that he died 9 years ago. Or is it that he knew that he didn't die 9 years ago. But did he know that 7 years ago? What else does Jim not know that he now knows and can now share with us, if you know what I mean now? Meantime I'm away to pop can number seven. Or is it nine? :dizzy: But you probably knew that.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos?
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Alexandre Lacazette
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Konstantinos Mavropanos
Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Arsenal taking a leaf out of the Rod Petrie school of shirt lettering sales. Wonder if they’ll be looking to bring Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink out of retirement too.

Possibly bringing this thread back on track, I think Unai Emery is an interesting appointment for Arsenal. I thought he was in with a shout a couple of years back but Wenger stayed on and the moment passed. I was relatively confident Arsenal would go for Leonardo Jardim but I can see the sense and the attraction of Emery.

Early transfer rumours indicate a marked departure from Wenger's approach. Lichsteiner is available on a free from Juve and the gossip is that Arsenal have already agreed a deal. He's 34, so not a long-term option but definitely a solid back-up or alternative to Bellerin at RB. Wenger was inherently against signing or renewing the contracts of older players unless he really had to.

Other rumoured signings seem to be a first-choice GK, a couple of centre-halves and and a couple of central midfielders. The names being mentioned are younger and have Bundesliga, Serie A or La Liga experience.

That all makes sense - if Arsenal keep Ramsey then they have more than enough attacking talent, and the likes of Maitland-Niles and Nelson offer cover in midfield/defence with the likelihood they will push on and challenge for a place in the starting XI.

They've only interpreted the shirt.
The point, however, is to change it.
