Ha ha, go in at the last 16 stage, and we’ll be seeded as well

Always good to avoid teams such as Peterhead and Dunfermline in the early rounds. Can always be awkward.

Only if you are Hearts.

I imagine the thieves will want somebody like Peterhead or dunfermline to knock them out of this one early on as they've no special relationship with it and will want to focus on the league straight away, having nailed 6th early on this season it's a big ask next.

I quite like getting a few 'easier', but competitive games, under our belt before the league season starts.

However, if we're steamrolling our way through all the qualifying rounds of the Europa League instead, I won't be complaining. :greengrin

Now now, trying to get out of a league consisting of the footballing Golliaths that are Peterhead, Elgin and East Fife is a monumental task. Even our neighbours, "the famous" failed in such a herculean task.

Watching hearts having to take part in a penalty shoot out v the pars last season in a competition they'd just been eliminated from remains one of the funniest football moments ever imo.

Of course it was topped a few days later when they sacked their head coach the day before the league season started :tee hee:

Worth pointing out we only need to win four games to lift the League Cup.

We miss the group stages and go into second round as a seeded team, game sometime in August.

Winners go into a Q-final tie, probably in late Sept. Semi Finals are probably in late Oct/early Nov and the Final on 2nd Dec.

Can Hibs break the Treble Treble hopes of Glasgow’s unwashed?

The funniest part about the "regional" draw is that Falkirk and Stenhousemuir are in different sections despite being in the same council area, and Falkirk is in the north draw despite it being further south than Stenhousemuir.

Should be North/South/East/West.

Have to admit I really enjoyed the games I watched in this cup last season, with Murray banging them in. Thought we'd pulled off a major coup and undiscovered gem with Murray.

Tough draw

It really shouldn't be.

A Championship team who didn't even make the play offs, a League One team, the team which has finished bottom of League Two for the past two seasons and a Highland League team.

We would be delighted with that draw.

One of the updates I seen was talking about john Robertson returning to tynecastle. So it's maybe already decided based on seeding (rings a bell that we were away to the top seed last year - Ross county).

I thought I remembered watching a separate part of the draw last year to determine the home / away and it working out the exact opposite of what I wanted as I'd already been to the grounds we drew as away fixtures.

Lucky to avoid Dunfermline and Peterhead. Levein's old clubs Raith and Cowdenbeath will lay down for them as will John Robertson's ICT so they just need to scrape a draw against Cove. It's a fix I tell ya.

They've got the 2 lowest ranked teams in the North section so they should comfortably win the group. If not we might see another manager depart before the start of the league campaign.

Least glamorous fix in cup draw history to get a Cowdenbeath-Cove rematch in there. Box Office.

Em im sorry has nobody told you? Hearts "the famous" are far too big and superior for the league cup, it's only for us wee diddy club don't you know. For the last 55 years they have voluntarily gotten themselves knocked out so as to give us wee diddy teams a chance.

I think we should be applauding this heroic act of charity. I wish we were a big Super duper club like them . . . .

Hertz should easily win that league. However you could have said the same last season.

ICT are comparable with Dunfermline of last season.
Raith should be stronger than last season's Peterhead.
Cowdenbeath & Cove will be weaker than Elgin and East Fife.

Also Levein's Hertz are better organised than Cathro's.

They'll be playing catch up if they drop any points in their 1st 2 matches.

It'll be interesting to see what the excuses are because they'll no longer be able to blame it on Cathro's pre-season training or it being his players.

Well if they were a big team they would have qualified for Europe and avoided getting embarrassed by some league one or two team.
