Well done, Lewie. :aok:
How many internationalists were in the starting 11 today?
Is it 6, if you don't include Lewis & Jamie (not played yet) + Dylan (called off injured).
Hanlon & Scott Allan being the other two without caps?

Unseen work

Very random and a bit pointless imo.

Tierney, Robertson and Douglas are all well ahead of him and there is no chance he will cement a position in the national team.

I really like Stevenson and think he’s had a very good season but it’s an odd one.

Well there's an unexpected bit of brilliant news. What Lewis has added to his attacking game this season has been incredible, he can't be far off being our leading player for assists?

Left back is Scotland’s strongest position but overall he deserves a cap in his career.

Scotland are blessed with left backs, but Robertson won't be in squad and I highly doubt Tierney will be either, while you are right he's not going to cement his place it is still well deserved so I wouldn't say random or pointless

Lewis Stevenson to single handedly drag Scotland to a World Cup, score a controversial goal with his hand then skin the entire ingurlund team in the quarters before going on to provide the decisive assist in the final.

Murals of king Louis to be found by archaeologists in 10000 years time, cloning technology to bring him back to life where he lives as a god over humanity for a million years, leading to the golden age where we ultimately conquer the universe.

To be honest I never saw that coming, well done Lewis.. Shame it's mostly because Tierney and Robertson will have been held back from their clubs, but saying that, to be 3rd or 4th choice after them two is no bad thing..

And yeah, the Haters will be going to bed scratching their heads, and trying to work out how to congratulate Lewis without contradicting themselves!!

Well said!

I cant believe there are people on this post giving out negatives on this news.

It his sheer endeavour and tenacity that has brought him to the attention of McLeish so for goodness sake be happy for him!

I really despair that people still want to attack him when they should be pleased that Hibs have another player in the International squad.

Whether or not he gets a cap remains to be seen but he will be chuffed to be called into it. This is the sort of thing Lewis needs it has come at the end of a long season. One in which he has been brilliant!

I watched him in Ireland playing for Scotland's u/16s in a wee tour of Ireland and even then he looked fine in the dark blue of Scotland.
Well done wee man and if you go enjoy yourself!

The only thing being though, he may have to cancel his holidays? OOPS!

Agree with the jist of your post but disagree that it’s all down to sheer endeavour and tenacity. That’s not enough to get you an international call up. He’s also an extremely fine footballer with a fantastic touch.

Our whole defence has been a shambles these past 2 games but for me this call up is richly deserved - seen far inferior players get call-ups in recent years. I’m sure he’ll not be taken all the way across the world and not get a cap and when he does it’ll be a proud moment for all of us... especially the Kirkcaldy Hibees ;-)

League & Scottish Cup winner with Hibs.

Testimonial in this day and age.

Never seen him give anything other than 100%.

An appearance for his country at senior level - (albeit it probably won’t be a lasting arrangement with the quality Scotland have there), would really be some career, that he should be very proud off.

I’d be surprised not to see Hanlon back in there as well.

Green-Hibee-7
14-05-2018, 12:21 AM
I’d also add - he may be a limited player in some people’s eyes and I’ve no doubt people will raise their eye with his inclusion but - last time I watched Scotland, they were making James Forrest out to be the next Kenny Dalgleish and someone the nation needed in the team.

Lewis had him and a multi million pound English winger in his back pocket the other week.

Fingers crossed he’s involved

He’s been great the last two seasons has really become a much better player, I think being relegated gave him the time to get better instead of just plugging the gaps in some of the worst hibs teams ever before we went down.

To get a call up in that position is impressive, i thought hanlon deserved one earlier in the season as well as he is no worse than the players Scotland currently have at cb.

I don't think you have to be his biggest fan to be pleased for him.
Clearly a great lad off the park too who has more than made the most of his ability.
As he plays in the one position where we are blessed with two top class players this will almost certainly be his one chance so we should all get behind one of our true Hibernian legends.

One of the unsung heroes of the Scottish game. A lot of Managers, coaches and fellow pros have a lot of respect for Lewis.
I thought Lewis had developed all he could and then this season came along. With good coaching no doubt, he has managed to raise the bar and after 10 years, that's no mean feat.
I view this call up as thoroughly deserved, almost as a thankyou to one of Scottish footballs best role models.

Well done Lewis. He deserves recognition for what has been a great season.

A very underrated, selfless player who, let's remember, came to prominence as a rather classy looking midfielder in the 2007 League Cup final. He's had to work exceptionally hard to adapt to that left-back position but has held it down for many years now under a succession of managers. He's also improved significantly as a footballer under Neil Lennon, who isn't slow sideline players he doesn't think are up to the demands he places on his teams.

I think mcleish is just having a look at stevo to see if he's someone that could step in if 2 of tierney, Robertson and Douglas are injured or need a rest vs a lesser team.

I'm a big fan of Stevenson but I don't think he's quite international standard but could serve as a standby if needed.

Great news for Lewis and well deserved.

Anyone who says Lewis cant cross the ball should look at the deliveries for goals 2 & 3 yesterday!

Sadly I am afraid Paul Hanlon's time looks to have come and gone, at least until McLeish gets punted.

McLeish obviously doesn't rate him as after being in Mackay's squad he hasn't featured in McLeish's

Delighted Dylan gets another call up, hopefully he gets some game time.
