That's a long career with lots of clubs and very few games played.

Most games played for any club seems to have been a season on loan at Ibrox where he played 30 times.

That’s what he is saying.

If Celtic rate Allan then he wouldn’t be going out on loan to Dundee or Hibs. He’s surplus to requirements and I’m sure we do the business regardless of McGinn going anywhere.

Personally, not convinced Celtic are interested in McGinn. Their fans are not fans of SJM for sure, going by what I read on my odd foray onto Kerrydale St.

Presumably he's suggesting that there isn't necessarily a link between McGinn to Celtic and Allan to Hibs.
If both happen it's likely to be part of the same deal but equally one or both may not happen.

Personally think Allan is the key signing we should be looking at this window.

I'm inclined to agree.
Not saying he definitely won't end up there but it's certainly not the dream match for both McGinn/Celtic that some seem to think.

I reckon he'll try his hand down South and Celtic are more interested in other targets.

McGinn’s a smart lad and he will know that the rewards for establishing himself down south are much greater than doing it at Celtic.

When you consider that guys like Dorrans, Arfield Morrison, Adam and McArthur have all had good careers and played afair bit of football in the EPL, you would have to say that McGinn has a decent chance. If he has to go then I would much prefer he went outside Scotland.

If our chances of getting Allan rely purely on McGinn going to Celtic (and like others, I'm sceptical as to whether that's the case), then I hope he goes.

Allan is so crucial for us. Now that Kamberi has been secured, SA is all that matters for me. Mallan would be a lovely bonus, but Scott is the key.

Am sure he's the sort that Lennon could get the best out of, mind you. Probably easier to get a decent deal for him on the back of a poor season also.

Not 100% sure SJM will go, at least until well into the window. We will need to get an offer that is suitable for both his and our ambitions. As far as we are aware there are no clubs anywhere that want him and we have no pressing need to sell.

I hope he will be with us until at least the initial European ties are finished. That does make it difficult to sign a replacement. (BTW what position does Stevie Mallan play and who will he replace?)

It does mean Hibs (and other Scottish clubs) are at a relative advantage, as buyers in the market, during the period where the window has already shut in England but still open in Scotland.

Imagine if:

McGeouch signs
McGinn extends
Kamberi signs
Mallan signs

I can dream.......or am I GGTTH

Even if we got Scott A too then that would make us roughly as good as last year but with Gray, McGregor and Whittaker a year older and probably more injury prone. I'll be delighted if we can sign them all too but we would probably need another couple of good ones to finish higher than 4th as The Rangers will be better and Aberdeen as good again.

Very true especially in the case of Shaw and Porteous who looked very good last year and will surely feature more this year. I think I was pointing out how hard it is to progress in the league and I would be very happy if we maintained what we achieved last year particularly if the type of football we saw at the tail end of the season is what I am watching.

If we are as good during the whole season as we were in the 2nd half of the season last year, then we will do well. very well.

Last year, if we had gained as many points in the first half of the season as we did in the second, we would have ended up on 74, one more than Aberdeen finished. That surprised me and it tells you how hard a league this is. Our form was brilliant in the second half but Aberdeen have managed that type of form for the last 4 seasons, for the whole season, scoring over 70 points in each and over 74 in two of those. Finishing second, particularly with The Rangers more than likely getting better next term, would be an unbelievable achievement and would need us to kick on a wee bit from last year's form and even potentially from the post Christmas form.

If he is still with us on 12th July and we play him in the first leg of our Euro qualifying game, does this mean he cannot appear in a Europe League/Champs League game for Celtic or anyone else after he plays for us?

Therefore, if Celtic want him for Euro games, then 12/7 is a deadline. Or are they viewed as different competitions and can play for different clubs in each competition.

He’d go to the club that’s willing to pay the highest proportion of his wages. If he put his foot down and insisted on it being hibs when other clubs were offering considerably more he’d be chucked in the reserves and left to rot.

There’d be no shortage of suitors and many that could pay a lot more than hibs.

Gauld clearly had potential if Sporting's alleged 60 million Euro buy out clause when they signed him is anything to go by. But the truth is that he has been there since 2014 and hasn't made a dent in the first team, with next to no appearances .... to be fair he was brave going to Portugal to learn a different style and approach to the game, but in 4 years he clearly hasn't improved enough to impress Sporting's management teams.

If he cant get a game in the rather more technical arena of Portuguese football amongst players who are in most cases well below EPL level how on earth could he possibly hope to get a game for either Liverpool or Arsenal, two clubs awash with world class players and in a more physical league?

If he was to accept an offer from either of these two clubs IMO what we are looking at is another Scott Allan, IE he thinks more about the money than the game. If he is serious about doing anything in the game Hibs would be a great move for him, we have proved that we are a club where good players get better ... McGinn, McGeouch, Boyle and even Scott Allan are proof of that ..... but the fact that Scotland have ignored him, even when absolutely shorn of most of our first choice players doesn't exactly measure up to his 'the Scottish Messi' tag of a few years back.

He would maybe be worth a punt ... but I doubt his signing would prompt a rush for the remaining season tickets.

His girlfriend is from the Edinburgh area and should he return to Scotland he would be on our doorstep. Hibs were interested but Scott Allan happened and that was that.

All this could be said about Scott Allan before we signed him.

I'm not sure I'm reading your post correctly, but are you saying he should turn down Liverpool, who were just in the Champions League final, also turn down Arsenal and sign for Hibs?

He was the best of that dundee utd team that included Armstrong and gms. He went abroad to broaden his football and life experience. Any interview I have seen or read would make me think he's a mature intelligent lad.

I totally agree! I'm glad someone had the courage to say it. Personally, seeing as Ryan Gauld was born in Aberdeen, I don't even think he should have been allowed to play for Dundee United. I believe everyone should live and die within a five mile radius of their birthplace.

But Gauld didn't just do that. He did something even worse. He deserted his homeland.

Also, he only generated a measly 3 million pound transfer fee for the club that trained him.

Now he's coming back crying with his head full of all that foreign muck, probably speaking all Spanish or something.

And that completely unsubstantiated, anecdotal allegation just seals the deal.

Not welcome at my club!

Sporting Lisbon are a massive club bigger than anybody in Scotland with the possible exception of Celtic. It was a fantastic opportunity for him to go and play there.

Sure I’ve seen someone suggest two further signings incoming next week. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it pick up with the team back in training on Monday.

TC has been just as adamant about Mallan signing as he was with Kamberi. No news been seen about his Barnsley situation since their new manager came in. Wouldn’t be surprised if it dragged on until he’s been able to have a look at him.

Think it’s pretty clear that Lennon also shares that view. Shaw went ahead of him in the pecking order and he was then punted in January. No chance I can see him being here come the start of the season.

I suppose it makes more sense to have 2 separate player announcements than 1 announcing 2 at the same time . Generates more media interest. Wait s fee days for the Kamberi attention to die down before announcing the next

That’s a bit harsh. He’s far from brilliant but he is good enough to be part of the squad. Not necessarily as a starter but every striker we get won’t be at the level of Kamberi.
