Never been to a derby at Tynecastle before. Getting off a train at Haymarket. Is it just a case of walking up the main road, or is there advised safer ways to walk to the ground from Haymarket?

Going up towards Murrayfield and turning left into Roseburn Street at the junction with the Roseburn bar and onwards to Macleod Street is advisable for Hibs fans; I dunno about safety, but you'll catch some decent pre-match atmosphere that way.

Agreed, but if hes late, quicker alternative is to walk along Haymarket yards and the path goes straight to Russel Road.

From haymarket we walk down the path behind the buildings (where the tram’s come and go) and follow that road straight along, 10 min walk and takes you out 5 mins from away entrance.

Getting off at Haymarket eh? If its your first time it might be a bit premature to risk the back route to Gorgie however if you come out the entrance and hang left avoiding all the maroon ***** and head toward Murrayfield.

Just follow the crowd. It's perfectly safe.

We are in Haymarket bar and it is perfectly safe to go the quick way (the way the jambos go) to the ground
