A draw. The only result that leaves us vulnerable to having nothing to play for on the last day.
You have always been a glass half empty miserable *******!!! Best result tonight for us, as Neil and the boys will do the business tomorrow night. Keep the faith ya total misery:nlgwa

People still more worried about us finishing 4th than being excited about us finishing 2nd! I thought we’d moved on from that mentality?I know it's really depressing reading...this team don't deserve that kind of mentality

We are totally capable of it 💚🇳🇬💚

The best result possible for us tonight. At least a draw tomorrow night and then we are in the driving seat I think. No way will Aberdeen beat Celtic, they bottled it once again against the OF tonight. We have a great chance to beat der hun as they really are not very good!
The positive I’m taking is that Hearts know if they win we will only finish fourth. It might mean they actually try and score and win. Ok I’m dreaming but you never know. 6 points coming up for the Hibees.

A draw was the ideal result with regards to 2nd place, avoid losing tomorrow and we're in the driving seat for 2nd, a win would be fantastic and really heap the pressure on The Zombies and The Sheep, but a draw, though a little disappointing, would still be a positive result.

I do find it a bit strange as well.

I was buzzing when Rangers scored tonight. Of course it could go tits up but as it stands we have a great chance of finishing 2nd and I'll be taking that mentlaity to Tynecastle tomorrow rather than worrying about worst case scenarios.

Not sure about Morelos. Means Jason will start.

There is no way Cummings will do the amount of hard work Morelos has done tonight.

Draw tomorrow and it’s all to play for

That result means we only need to draw tomorrow

I know but a win tomorrow means that Aberdeen would need to beat Celtic, if we beat Sevco, to stay above us.

If we draw then Aberdeen could afford to get a draw on Saturday and stay above us.

2 wins we're second, its that simple. Plenty time to rest over summer lads, give absolutely everything in these 2 games, win both and you'll be absolute legends.

I hope the team doesn't read the pants soiling posts about finishing 4th after tomorrow.

Embarrassing, under Lennon we should be going expecting a win against a team 20 points behind us.

Fantastic result.

At worst avoid defeat tomorrow - we are capable of winning anyway - and we will shaft Sevco on Sunday. Assuming Celtic beat Dons we will finish second.

Except its not, third time I have said this in 20 mins. Two wins and we are at least third but need the Aberdeen result to go in our favour. Yes I expect Celtic to win, but its not guaranteed

Ideal result tonight, but I hope there's no thought of ''avoiding defeat'' to cloud thoughts tomorrow night, can sometimes be better when it's absolutely clear what is required.

You are of course correct but when it comes to playing any of the OF Aberdeen totally bottle it. Look at tonight for example. Leading, playing well against a poor side and they totally shat it. Or as it should be known Dons'd it. ****ing jokers had a cheek to join in with the Hibs'd it nonsense as well

At the other end of the table, tonight's results have made the relegation picture a bit clearer.

Hamilton are now practically guaranteed to be safe.

Ross County will be relegated unless they beat St Johnstone on Saturday. However if Ross County do win, Partick Thistle will be relegated unless they beat Dundee.

Either Ross County or Partick Thistle will occupy the play off spot.

In years past, this may have been the mentality of the team, but this management team and this group of players will be going out tomorrow with eyes firmly set on getting 3 points. Regardless of what the outcome of tonight's result was, 3 points was always going to be the goal.

Don’t think we need 2 wins.

It’s not a case of playing for the draw, it’s playing the smart game and not over committing bodies in an attempt to chase a win we don’t really need.

Lennon won’t be telling the players to go for the draw but he’ll be telling them to be smart and I’m sure there’ll be a lot of talk about game management. If we’re drawing with 20 minutes to go I’d bet we’ll have a lot of possession but won’t threaten a huge amount, not because it’s the boring thing to do or because we’re being defeatist, it’s just sensible at this stage in the season.

An Aberdeen win or Rangers win just gave us the security blanket of finishing third if we dropped points or lost tomorrow and still the chance to finish second as well if we win tomorrow.

It’s just a matter of percentages and indeed a potential few hundred thousand pounds in prize money, not to mention all to play for on Sunday.

However it is what it is and hopefully we do the business tomorrow and at least get a point so that Sunday those 🍺🍺🍺🍷🍷🥤🥤🍺🍺taste sweeter with a win over Rangers.

Don't see anyone saying it's easy. It'll be hard but there's no reason we can't, Christ we were a blind ref away on our last premier league visit and that was pre Allan, Kamberi and Maclaren.

Wins at Tynie are a rarity mate. 2013 being the last one and we were uttwr hash back there as well. Ref usually has a blinder for them as well and they love a flukey goal also.

With goal line technology, (or VAR) Hibs would have won there earlier this season.

Well actually, would it? 4 points would put us level on 70 points with Aberdeen. A draw tomorrow and if we beat the Huns by only 1 goal, then we would be equal on 70 point and 18 GD (if Aberdeen then draw with Celtic they will be on 71). I haven't worked out the head to head, but I think they might win on that?

Oh this is confussing, lets just get our 2 wins, and celtic to end on a high with a win too, then its all over.

If we get 4 points we can only be level with Aberdeen if they lose at Celtic. To get 4 points our GD has to get at least 1 better. To lose at Celtic, Aberdeen's has to get at least 1 worse. Therefore, if we finish level we will definitely have a better GD.

The post I quoted didn't ask about Aberdeen drawing with Celtic, it asked about Aberdeen losing to Celtic. In that scenario, a draw tonight and a win on Sunday will put us 2nd on goal difference.

It's impossible for Aberdeen to finish above us if they lose to Celtic and we get 4 points from our last 2 games, due to how close the goal difference is.
