To understand how significant this is, you need to realise that the last time we had a higher average attendance was in season 1956/57.

In fact, apart from a decade or so between 1945 and 1957, this season's attendance is as high as it's ever been!

Hearts probably have a slightly higher average attendance record this season but it is skewed by the 14k Rangers fans and 6 or 7k Dons fans that went to Murrayfield.

A lot of Jambos say the Murrayfield matches don't count as home games and claim to be undefeated at home this season but conveniently forget to exclude them when talking about average attendances.

I don't think we should cherry pick which games to exclude. So if we exclude their Aberdeen and rangers games at Murray field, I think we should exclude the kille and saints games too...

So doing that, I can reveal that, as of this morning, the average league attendance at Tynecastle (Park) is...16,782.

This is only 400 more than last season. Looks like it was well worth the expense for the extra ahem...2000 seats
