Got talking the other day with a Hearts supporting pal about the guy who had his scarf with all his enamel badges stolen (and all banter aside, hope the guy got it back) and we spoke about our oldest piece of kit. I had a brushed cotton dark green scarf with two pinstriped ‘tramlines’ in white with the old crown badge embossed at the ends circa late 60s / early 70s, but that resides somewhere at the mothers.
The oldest thing I have that still gets an airing on occasion is a 1991/92 Adidas home shirt but I would imagine there’s a few folks on here who can do a lot better than that!

1963 woollen scarf - bottle green with narrow diagonal white stripes gets the occasional airing, lives in spare room along with 1978 Scotland top and 1979 New York Comos top (don't know where that came from )

If that was at auction about 18 years ago and Bobby Johnston's medals were up for grabs, I was there that day and bought the Hibs No9 strip for £180. Didn't have enough cash to even bid on the GB strip!!

Many years ago we met St Patrick of Stanton in the hospitality suite at Easter Road and he was mightly impressed with it. He mentioned the Hibs museum could find a good place for it!

I also remember being in the front row of the old wooden main stand at Hampden for the 1985 League Cup Final and the woman sitting next to us had the same scarf too. We just looked at her pointed at her scarf, she looked at my Dad and pointed to his scarf.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180505/3cd34a5c03820928082045543e0418cb.jpg

My dads scarf ...Was my first scarf so bought in about 1967 . Still have it though it needs a good painting . Always attracts comments from younger supporters ( I remember several comments from fellow fans on trains to and from Hampden on cup - winning day ) . Very practical as it`s very small and thin so easily folded away in " No Colours " pubs or when surrounded by aggressive opposition fans ( eg at Ibrox in pre - segregation days ) . When were first Hibs scarves produced ? On this thread , I see mention of same scarf in late 50s but in photos of games in 50s crowds are huge but don`t see scarves . There were similar silk (? ) scarves of other clubs at the same time ( my first Hibs v Celtic was 2 v 0 with Joe McBride snr double and I remember similar Celtic scarves then ) . Was probably the first Hibs scarf but was probably replaced soon after in early 70s when woolllen scarves became normal . Not sure when club scarves
or any other club product was sold by club but probably not till late 1970s ( ? ) .

Early 70s scarf. Like it because it's got Hibs written all over it. Can't be mistaken for any other green and white team.

I used to have my dad's old scarf (until it went astray moving house !) similar to the one on the left in this pic, it was more like a 'Dress-scarf' though - the white, vertical lines were more like a pin-stripe and didnt have the tassle at the ends - wish I still had it !

My Dad gave me the green/white woolen diagonal scarf for my Xmas 1975. I wore it to every Hibs match I attended; league, cups, friendlies,Europe etc. including 21st May when I then retired it and have it framed with my cup ticket.

New scarf is already looking shabby. Can't see it lasting 10 years never mind 40

My dads scarf ...
That was my first Hibs scarf bought in 1966 when I started going to the matches I don't know what happened to that scarf. I then got the one that looked like a school scarf with the diagonal stripe but that got pinched at Aberdeen. Got the wool one from the early 1970s still. Also got a rosette with John McNamee on it from 1966 and a rosette with a photo of Pat Stanton which I bought at Ibrox in the late 1960s

Tie given to me by my wifes uncle about 20 years ago (he's no longer with us, sadly), not sure how long he had it but wouldn't be surprised if it is actually from 1950.

My dad took me to a shop in :St Patrick's Sqare for that scarf for the league Cup final of 1968. Hampden caught fire the night fore and the game was cancelled. Rearranged for the following April but by that time we had sold Colin Stein and Joe McBrider was cup- tied. Left the game at 6-0 and never wore the scarf again.

I used to have a scarf like the one mentioned by the OP, but my oldest thing is a strip I wore to the 1972 League Cup Final before replica strips became a big thing. Can't remember where I bought it but it doesn't have a badge and is fairly cheap polyester material. (Today's strips are still made of cheap material but cost the earth.)
