Remember it well. We were having a 'mare of a game against United and then suddenly the old North Wing Stand gave a rousing cheer for a United throw in. Then it dawned and the Cowshed joined in followed by the East Terrace. Happy days.

Pleased to have presented him on stage in Melbourne with the retrospective Oz Hibs Branch ‘player of the year 1985/86 award, back in 2005.

Only to find our it wasn't good old Walter, but the man who would be forever known as Sir Albert Kidd.😍🤗

Me too, Joe Tortolano about to boot the ball into Utd's net when the place erupted - Sturrock (??) nips it off Joe, takes it upfield and - Bang - 0-1 to them - and not one Hibernian FC supporter was giving one solitary ounce of **** !!

One of the best days/night/weekend in my life !

I was at ER that day, it was bizarre watching the few Hibs fans there celebrating even though Utd had scored :greengrin

I often think its time we got over this, after all it wasn't us or our player who scored, but then I think, nahhh ... happy Sir Albert Kidd day everybody. :lolyam:

The usual, Hearts winning with ten minutes to go.

I switched off then before, there's no way Hibs or Dundee would score two late goals against the famous.

Trawling through the records online, but can find no reference to any Albert Kidd who played for Hibs. Yet he seems to be a cult hero at the club. Can anyone please inform me as to why this should be? It really is doing my nut in.

Was working in a shop in St James Centre that day. Trying to get through it then home cause the jambos would have been out celebrating, or so we all thought.
Phone call from my mate at FT pissing himself laughing, we just had to go straight out on the toon. The few jambos we did meet where literally broken.
Never to be forgotten, still makes me smile that phone call :)

New a few guys (Jambos) who worked for the Evening News / Scotsman and they brought up some of the billboard notices with Championees etc on them to the bowling club for the pink news. Never seen them for a few weeks thereafter. Pity Hibs were crap in those days.

Still got the commentary on MP3 and when I am on holiday with my music on shuffle people wonder why I am laughing my head off with tears of absolute joy running down my face.

We can laugh all we want, but at least they won the other part of their double a week later and definitely weren't pumped 3-0. :greengrin

Would've been about this minute exactly 32 years ago that Albert Kidd scored the first.

I remember walking through Glasgow Central in a foul mood and seeing all the Celtc fans singing. My mood changed instantly when they told me what had happened. 😂

Archie McPherson - 'The return of the Hearts support in large numbers ................' - surely Archie's wrong - they're 'The Famous', the 'Big team' - they've always had a large (and loyal) support haven't they ??

The day I learned there was definitely a God - spent the night in Mr. Smith's, Burns Street - wasn't my favourite bar but popped in for a pint on the way home from ER and the party just got better and better - too good to leave. Any visitor (not that Smith's had many) would have thought that Hibs had won the league. Somebody had taped the radio report and it was played over and over again on a cassette recorder to the same cheers every time - great evening. Thank you Hearts, thank you Dundee, thank you Celtic and St. Mirren but especially thank you Sir Albert.

I was at ER and my recollection is that Beedie scored in between the two goals - I was so emotional that I - and a good few others - cheered when he scored Utd’s second - I was so excited that I would have cheered if a kettle had fechin boiled !

By the way - good trivia question- in 1986 who was the same player who scored the last goal of the season at ER and the first st ER in the new season but who was playing for different teams ?

Were all 11 Dundee players assaulted? Did their fans run on to protect them?
