Along with Kris Boyd, Scott Brown and James Forrest. Must be in with a great chance.

He gave some hope for an extension on BBC Scottish News a few minutes ago. Spoke very highly of his place at Hibs. Who knows? What a boost it would be if we could get another season from him, before getting a big sell-on fee. C’mon John, you know it makes sense and it will only enhance your future career.

What a coup it would be if he extended his contract for a year or two with Hibs, even if there was agreement to sell him in 12 months or if a set offer came in. Would be the signing of the summer, bar none.

James Forrest is bowf

No Aberdeen players?

If fatty Boyd gets it , then it will set health education back years

McGinn or Brown for me. Not sure which would upset the Hearts manager more.

Malaury Martin for me.
Apparently he’s the dead ball expert.

A Hibs player has never won this.

Well done on the nomination SJM, fingers crossed for the win.

Well done to him, but he won’t win.

Had a look, since 1990 a Celtic player has won player of the year 17 times, rangers 9 and higdon for Motherwell in 2012. Can’t remember how many he must have scored that season to break the old firm trend!

26 out last 27 winners being old firm players. Deary me.

For all it sounds bad when you put it that way, with the huge gulf in finance that exists between Celtic, Rangers and the rest, is it that unreasonable or unexpected that the best player in the country would almost always have played for one of those 2 sides?

Who else is likely to have played well enough to deserve the award but be overlooked?

You’d say it’s wide open but even if SJM doesn’t win it he’s been voted amongst the top 4 players in Scotland by his peers. Quite an honour and a bit of a bloody nose for some Hibs fans who still don’t quite see his worth yet....

I’d put him in my top 5 Hibs players now. The complete player who’s never given the club a moments bother and is an absolute legend.

Imo Leigh deserved it the year Higdon won!

I was just saying this to my pals. He was robbed. Higdon only got it cause he scored more than leigh. Where as leigh was pretty much a one man team that season. In saying that did he not win the young award? Couldnt give him both i suppose.

Would be great if SJM won but to be honest, Broony is probably around 1/25 odds on to get it

Apparently he’s the dead ball expert.

He's actually dead??!

That would explain why he never gets a game. Sad news indeed.

I hope John wins but I think Boyd will get it as part of the Killie revival.

It’s voted by their fellow players so it’s possible that Scott Brown might not be that popular with some. [emoji23]
