I've heard some exciting things about this youth coach who used to be at Newcastle. He worked in Spain as well so he must be good.

He's only young but he uses a laptop and has given a name to something good youth coaches have been doing for years so he's totally innovative.

Not sure what he's been up to lately mind you.

Luckily our rivals are minnows who we are so much bigger than we need not worry about them approaching him.

I was going to post Jamie Cureton as we always used to hear his name in transfer gossip back in the day. He's still playing, albeit three or so levels beneath League 2, but it turns out he is also coaching at the Arsenal academy so might well yet develop into a coach/manager who likes his team to play football in that style.

It's a bit like those bets where a dad sticks a tenner on his newborn son to get an England cap and then potentially wins a fortune but maybe one day Cureton will confirm all those speculative posts of old and find his way to Easter Road :greengrin

If Lennon leaves Hibs it will be because he is no longer wanted by us. Sometimes in life you find the perfect fit, somewhere you feel valued and appreciated. Nothing to base this assumption on other than seeing a man who looks very happy and at ease

I personally think Lennon will be around for a fair while yet. You can tell he has a genuine affection for our club, he loves the fans and we love him. He has a board who are willing to back him and a really solid core of professionals at this club who intend on being here long term.

I think he has probably already achieved his ultimate dream of managing Celtic, winning trophies with them, beating Barcelona in the Champions League etc...as well as trying his hand down south. Unlike Stubbs, Lennon has been there and worn the T-Shirt...I am thinking he will maybe want to hang around us for a fair few years and make us his real project?

I hope so too, but it wasn't that long ago that the rumour was he was open to discussing the Scotland job...

In the event of needing a new manager, I would much prefer Stubbs over Strachan. But as others have said, I really hope Lennon stays for a good long time yet. I would go so far as to say that I think he is the best manager Hibs have had in my lifetime (I'm 43, in case anyone is wondering :greengrin )

Odd thread when all is so positive. Said before I think the signs are good that he will stick around for a while, maybe surpass Miller's ten year stint. Can't see him going back to the Tic, tried is hand already in England and too ginger to go on the continent.

Was actually saying in the pub last night that I hope he surpasses Miller or is at least the closest in longevity we have had since Lexo’s departure. Undoubtedly the most consistent manager we’ve had at the helm in my lifetime (even if Stubbs’ win ratio is marginally better at this point in time we need to remember that was solely in the Championship).

Impossible to predict if Lennon could be here long term - it’s common for managers to drop off after multiple seasons, and rare for them to perform consistently for years.

Lennon is a winner, there’s no doubt about that. But it was Stubbs who built the foundations of the team that we are still reaping rewards from. Lennon has got them to perform very well, but his signings the past couple of seasons (with some exceptions) have actually mostly been poor to average. He did make amends for it in Jan when he binned Stokes and Murray for Kamberi and McLaren, but those were his signings too. This isn’t a slight on the man at all by the way - just making the point there aren’t any clear cut signs he’s building for the long term here - a lot of his signings have been stop gaps, older heads or loan deals so far. Bit early to say he’ll outlast Miller.

As for the next manager when the day sadly comes, the timing has never been right for Gordon Strachan, who has always said he’d love to come to Hibs some day. If Lennon got poached off us because we are doing well, we could do worse than Strachan’s appointment to keep the ship steady and maintain high standards. If Lennon and Hibs part ways due to poor results, get Stubbsy in for another rebuilding job! Simples!

You have to look at where we were before he took over and the team he left behind. I think getting to 2 cup finals (including replays) severely hampered our promotion bid that season.

I don’t understand why it’s such a problem for so many to discuss hypothetical scenarios.

Everyone wants Lennon to stay for a long time so nobody really needs to qualify their opinion by saying that, it’s obvious.

There’s no harm in looking a bit further down the line and speculating as to who people might want next, I’d hope the board are succession planning and while we’re only lowly supporters with no input into the decision it’s still an interesting topic to discuss.

Completely agree. No issue for me other than I couldn’t tell you who I’d want, unless we’re talking hypothetically about not having Lennon within the next 6 months for example.

Is that the excuse for 4 consecutive defeats to Morton.. Dumbarton, QOTS, raith then a draw with st mirren languishing near the bottom of the league at time.. followed by two lait goals to scrape a win against livi which proceded a 2-1 defeat against wait for it...alloa?

Looking back they were truly horrendous results. No wonder most of us felt Stubbs time was up leading up to the Scottish cup final.

And yet I think he only achieved a point less than Lennon did in a championship without Hearts or Rangers, while winning the Scottish cup.

Not getting promoted was a blow, no doubt (albeit I quickly got over it thanks to what was round the corner).. the way some people go on though, makes you wonder if they even enjoyed winning the cup under nasty Stubbs.

Also.. I’m almost certain it wasn’t “most” of you that wanted rid of Stubbs.

I'm not excusing that form but in that run of games we played on the 7th Feb, 13th Feb, 16th Feb, 21st Feb, 24th Feb, 27th Feb, 1st March, 6th March, 13th March, 16th March and 19th March. Squads twice as big as ours would have struggled with that scehdule.

That run includes the defeats you mention but also a draw and win v ICT, a LC final and a draw and win v Hearts.

A manager that you would want today could be absolute guff by the time we need one. Or vice versa.
