She was miles off again. Needs to stop bleeding the taxpayer dry IMO - let someone who might have a chance of winning get a shot.

I'd imagine she would always be second in any photo finish.

Yes I know, but I do bear a grudge.

A silver medal in the "wee" Games that are the Commonwealth Games, meh. A gold medal in a "big" Games like the Olympics, now that would be impressive.

Was she the one that did the 1-5 sign after a race at London olympics or somewhere similar?

At Glasgow commonwealth games.

Follows a team a team of losers, run by the ultimate loser of a Manager and now she continues on her run of 2nd place finishes. Get it up ye.

Christ almighty, some folk need to get out more.

Dishing out abuse at a Scottish athlete cause she's a hearts fan and made a gesture one time, get over it seriously

Thought exactly the same, taking joy in a Scottish athlete coming 2nd cod they took offence to a wee gesture😂 cringeworthy and sad really

If she had proclaimed her love of Hearts in any other way I doubt anybody would have bothered .... but her 5 - 1 gesture was a pop at us, a group of people who at the time would have been supporting her as a Scottish athlete Jambo or not, including Hibs fans who had paid to be in the stadium. I never had any problem supporting Alan Wells, Stephen Henry or Chris Hoy for example even though they were all known to be Jambos ... the fact they were Scottish was far more important than what team they supported.

But IMO Elidh Doyle totally disrespected her position as a person on the track representing the WHOLE of Scotland. It wasn't what she did but when she chose to do it, so I cant say I have much sympathy for her over the abuse she has brought on herself from Hibs supporters .... perhaps we should get over it, but then again why should we bother, its her own bloody fault.

Who and what? The empire games and it’s rather dull and boring sports aren’t my thing. Personally I couldn’t care what team she supports but on the contrary she’s a yam so I think we’re all entitled to have a wee pop.

As a Scot resident in Oz it was galling to see the standard bearer of our flag wear a Hearts bangle in the opening ceremony on the Gold Coast.

The flag is a symbol that is used to unite the nation, yet she chose to sully the moment by wearing a divisive trinket.

I didn’t watch her race, but shed no tears when she didn’t win.

Just as we should leave our sporting rivalries behind at international matches, we should leave our tribal allegiances behind when representing our nation.

It does seem to be a Hearts affliction though, Ryan McGowan even made the 5-1 gesture in a defensive free kick wall, while playing for Oz in a World Cup qualifier.

Fair enough to wind each other up on a club level, but when representing your country you should rise above it.

If only toilet hiding, war winning and charity theft were considered sports. We'd be back in our caravans where we belong.

Don’t mind her. Prefer unrepentant in-your-face Jambos to snidey Murrayfield types. For one thing they show hurt and disappointment so much more abundantly.

Don't have anything against the girl but to give the 5 1 sign immediately after her race does demean her own sport just a bit.

Evidently not! Good on her,I’ll consider Scottish while she’s running, overlook the fact she supports some inferior local team.

She's got 15 championship medals - more than any other Scottish athlete.

And people are mocking her achievements / looks.

She's the best of Scotland.

I wish Hibs had some players who were as good at football as she is at athletics.

When she did her hand gesture she was representing Scotland not Hearts. I felt embarrassed for her. The girl isn't the full shilling but did well to win a silver nonetheless

I'm kinda thinking that. Most sports stars who are hibbies either hardly mention it or are positive about the club like Andy Murray and Jamie visiting East mains. There does seem to even in the lower rank sports elite jambos seem to be a need to having a dig at us rather than anything positive about their club. Very sad really so I'm afraid any abuse they get is not surprising and as was said stops people supporting them. I loved watching Hendry stuff Davis or wells winning the Olympics. Just sums up the difference in class I'm afraid between the two sets of fans. IMHO of course.
