Looks like our highest SPL tally is 66 points in 00/01 season. Decent shout of beating that record this season.

I'll be pretty dissapointed if we don't get at least 8 points from now till the end of the season really

Will be great if we do beat that tally. Although, without looking into it (hopefully someone will take up the challenge and encourage further my laziness :greengrin) memory tells me our post split record is not great. Apart from one season where I’m sure we won all five but that was in bottom six.

Still, these are different times and team’s attitude totally different to previous splits. Plus we still have that 2nd place spot as an incentive.

Onwards and upwards.

Our post-January record in general is very poor, not this season though

Our post January record is the best in the league this season!

Realistically if we want to finish above 4th we need to be eating more than the 8 points that would see us have our best season. I think to finish 2nd the only game we can afford a defeat in is Celtic. Wins against county Killie and hearts then minimum of draws at Ibrox and pittodrie I think would give us a good chance, a win at Ibrox would really cement it

I have a feeling we're going to need to win all the games other than Celtic to get 2nd which would put us on 73.

Have to beat Ross County, Killie and the yams and going to be very difficult to pass Aberdeen without beating them.
Same with sevco.

It's a tough ask but it's very nice to have a team of players at Hibs right now that I could see doing just that.

Felt guilty at my laziness. Done a bit of homework. We have played post split for 14 out of 17 seasons.

6 of these in Top 6, 8 in the bottom 6.

My memory of winning all 5 one season was close. 2002/2003 - Won 4, Lost 1 (B6)

Since the split was introduced in 2000/2001 season our overall record is:

Played - 70; Won - 19; Drawn - 17; Lost - 34

Doesn’t make the best of reading BUT as ScottB & 1van Sprou7e pointed out, our form this season post January is so much better than in those 14 seasons. That’s the positive we have to focus on and no doubt Neil and the team will be doing the same. A repeat of the 2002/03 season would be great and dependent on other results might just squeeze into 2nd.

Ross County first though........:greengrin

Good research, if depressing reading...what's our top-6 only record?

73 points seems almost unbelievable. Having said that, our form since the turn of the year suggests there's no reason it can't happen. With McGinn back from suspension, Barker and Slivka fit and a strolling it-Whittaker now available, the squad suddenly looks very strong and in a good position to push for 2nd. Nothing to fear.

We won the Championship with 71 points, albeit we only played 36 games, so to equal or beat that in our first season back up would be phenomenal.

Just an observation, but the yams finished third on 66 points in their first season back up. That was in a league without either Hibs or the Rangers in it.

4 wins, 1 draw, 1 defeat would give us 71 points.

May be enough provided 1 of the wins is against Aberdeen.

If you mean the current post-split top 6, rather good. If you mean 'post split games over the last few years', probably not so good, but I don't have them to hand.

T6 only record is:

Played - 30; Won - 5; Drawn - 10; Lost - 15;

Think that sums up, at least historically, what a mammoth task we have over the next 6 games (inc RC).

If you assume wins for the top six this coming weekend but a draw Yams v Sheep, then award pro-rata points per the table above then you get:
1. Celtic 72+3+10 = 85
2. Rangers 59+3+7 = 69 (GD way better than Hibs)
3. Hibernian 58+3+8 = 69
4. Aberdeen 62+1+5 = 68
5. Killie 49+3+6 = 58
6. Hearts 43+1+4 = 48

:D

Yams frustrate the sheep to a draw on Saturday and shock losses for Celtic to two other teams and 3 unlucky draws post split.
6 wins for the Hibs and we're home and hosed :)

First part obviously not going to happen but when was the last time we had a mathematical shout of the title with 6 games to go?
I suspect a fair while back.....

I think it's a tough ask but if we beat our record and manage 67+ I'll be delighted, Saturday's game would go a long way but won't be easy.

A lot of the post-split games are "made for Marvin Bartley".

Blimey. If that were to happen 21/5/16 & 22/5/16 would be a minor bump on the road in comparison to what scenes would be like on 13/5/18.

We can but dream. :greengrin

I'm sure I seen it was. Potentially even by as much as 5 points?

Edit: I take that back, check Sergio Sledge's post.

Exactly the same points total as Kilmarnock, but we have a better goal difference by 3 goals.

http://www.soccerstats.com/formtable.asp?league=scotland Look at the last 10 games table, we have had 10 league games since the winter break.

Phenomenal achievement if we beat the record set by Sauzee and co in our first season back.
