Paltry. I recall when a fixture against Patrick would be expected to get that on a windswept terrace.

Mind you, that was George Best’s first Hibs game.

Either way, both figures are wrong.

Attendance means the number of people at the game, not seats sold.

Glad we still have something to moan about. **** me. Who cares? Club make money on tickets sold, not who turns up.

If you take the top tier of the south out of the equation , a 14k attendance would mean almost a quarter of the remaining seats being empty.. That wasn’t anywhere near the case

I think your estimate of 14k seems about right. Not sure why people disagreeing so strongly. East and FF looked about 3/4 full and the South was less than half full.

Honestly that was the coldest I've felt at a game for years. Cowdenbeath away last time I was that cold. So much for summer football though :greengrin

I don't think you are too far off, plenty of empty seats in FF and East, not sure about West, probably 15k at a stretch in attendance.

So you think there were over 6000 empty seats today

Agreed. More than usual empty seats in the East. Compensated a small amount by the South Lower which looked pretty much full but 14-15K actual bums on seats closer to the mark. Still a healthy number given it was Thistle, it’s Easter and it was bloody freezing!!

Hibs introduced a system for fans to re-release their seats, did this apply to today’s game?
Famous 5 lower was really empty today, obviously lots of families away

On average, all stands would have been about 2/3 full, so it’s not that mad an estimate. Grouping all the empty seats in the FF and East would’ve meant empty sections.

the nr of tickets sold is now stated as "attendance" and was stated as 17,400 odd. the discussion is about how many were actually present. so no one is wrong except you. From TV i guessed it was around 16,500. Empty seats about 500 in FF, 500 in East, guessing 1000 in North and 2,000 in South. 20,500 less 4,000.

True attendance far nearer 17,500 than ridiculous 14,000 estimate.

I would say around 15,000. Whatever the actual crowd was it certainly wasn't over 17,000 that's for sure. for the first time at a league game there were empty spaces at both ends of the west lower and noticeable gaps in the east, rather than the odd few seats dotted around you usually see.

But in all honesty at wasn't that surprising ... that was as cold as ER has been for ages and it was the Easter holiday weekend, two of our party were away for starters. I presume the cold was one of the reasons that the east was barely a third full by the time the final whistle went :greengrin

I can see from the West that a good number of fans prefer to stand at the back of the East. It happens every game but like others I'm really not too fussed about attendances
