With a football-free weekend looming, here's an interesting story to help fill the void:

I'd read about Tull before but hadn't been aware he was part of a 'Football Battalion'. More on that here:

Without belittling the contribution of any service personnel in the First World War, it sticks in the craw somewhat that Hearts make such a big deal of giving the impression that they and they alone were the club most associated with a football battalion.

It was a very interesting read over breakfast.

As regards Hearts, they are the ones belittling everyone else's contribution by overemphasing the efforts of those associated with their club who would themselves be appalled by the shameless way that Hearts have hijacked it for publicity.

Heard a piece on the radio this morning and both an interesting listen and read.
