Nice strike but why oh why oh why would a keeper try to save a shot going over his right shoulder with his left hand?

Unless his left arm's a couple of feet longer than his right.

Now c'mon no, please don't slag Scotland's new number one...

Said it on the match thread; as good a strike as it is a better keeper saves it. He went with his wrong hand and still got a full hand to it so should be keeping it out. If he went with his right he saved it. It differs from Rocky at Killie as Rocky needed height as opposed to distance as the ball was far more central.

McLaughlin seems decent enough but he's played much of his career in the English 3rd tier and ended up at Hearts for a reason.

Didn't the French goalie do the same thing with McFadden wonder strike?

It happens quite a bit. I just don't know what it is that goalies think they're trying to achieve when they do it.

Think the idea is you push the shot further away from goal if you use the wrong hand. Bit daft if you lose the goal straight away though.

Standard for keepers really. If you're pushing off on your right side it's tough to get your right hand up in time. You get more height & spring by bringing the left hand over. Scotland's #1 did nearly everything right but his left hand was too weak, ya beauty!

Boy said it was his 'wrong' foot, goal of the season for me

Amazing strike which looks better every time I see it - goal of the season favourite surely!

Keeper tried to save it with his left hand which is the "right" hand surely?

Quite likely I wasn't paying close enough attention, but I don't remember Goram doing that. Did he? :dunno:

His right arm wouldn't have reached high enough because it's under his body as he dives.

I think that's the correct technique.

I'm still wondering what Cochrane was doing at the 2nd goal.

A decent keeper saves it so not sure why it was a wounder strike. Decent strike but should be saved.

Hearts will have decent goalkeeping cover when their summer rebuilding program is done:

The only way they'll shore up their defence is to sign a bricklayer.

Quality hit but the first one is surely goal of the season.

Probably not. It's a technique which has found favour in probably the last 20 years or so.
