I mean, he assaulted a guy, left him permanently damaged, then avoided paying the compensation - not exactly stupid and immature. We all sadly saw how an assault can pan out in the Shaun Woodburn case, and I’m sure we can all agree the perpetrator was a piece of ****.

If Stokes didn’t score those 2 goals on 21st May, or if he hadn’t pulled on a Hibs strip, I can’t imagine he would be very highly thought of here.

I don’t wish him bad luck, but I couldn’t give a **** if his career continued on its downward trend.

If it wasn't for football and particularly his Hibs football, why would we be talking about him on here at all? You protest very loudly about being called out as a Hertz **** and I trust you're not. You don't half read like one though.

Please don't start all this garbage again. He's gone. And I for one am glad its not to a club in the Scottish Premier.

I don’t wish him bad luck, but I couldn’t give a **** if his career continued on its downward trend.

I was thinking more along the lines of Stokes' latest misdemeanour - the fire extinguisher incident that ultimately was one immature act too many for Hibs.
His legendary Scottish Cup final performance will never be forgotten as long as there is a Hibby and/or a history book around. His misdemeanours will.

There, I deleted it.

I just don’t believe football trumps all. I’m not going to think he’s a great person deserving of my well wishes because he did his job (extremely)well on occasion. He’s shown time and again that he’s not a great person, and most recently taken the absolute piss out of our club.

Each to their own though. I genuinely couldn’t care less what team you or others think I support.

Bit odd posting so much on a football forum then, supporting a team being pretty prevalent on here.
Anyways, I'm sure the thread will be closed along with your post soon, like most of the Stokes discussions do. It's all got pretty boring.

I’m not debating the fact that he’s forever going to be a legend in Hibs folklore, and of course I appreciate his cup final performance. I just think football fans are extremely hypocritical when it comes to transgressions we are willing to let slide in the name of football, especially when it comes to players of our own club.

Was definitely a bit OTT, and wrong to hijack a thread of people wishing him well to post my particular opinion. I’ll leave it at that.

Is it too much to ask to remember how this Hibernian Legend performed in Time for Heroes which was on a par with the 0-7 versus the swine at the piggery?

He's moved onto new pastures and I'm certain most of us Hibernian supporters wish him all the very best.

You have a point to some extent but ultimately footballers have done far worse than has. He's not my favourite Hibs player ever but he will always be a hero to us. Some of his off the field stuff has been very poor though.

Good luck with Apollon Mr stokes. I had the misfortune of watching them last season and I have never seen a team of divers, play actors and general little girls in all my days. Jamie Walker wouldn't get a game for them as he stays on his feet too much. All the best though, and thanks for 21/5/16.

I don't consider it ridiculous.

Stokes is a gifted footballer who was a member of the team that won the Scottish Cup in 2016 - first time in my lifetime.

For that I'm grateful - to the whole team. The way some folks are posting it looks like Stokes was the only player on the field.

He has enough history to suggest strongly that he's not exactly the sort of guy you'd want living next door to you - or working beside you.

It appears that when someone disagrees with the pack about Stokes and his 'legendary' status, the pack turns on them.

I for one am very glad Stokes has left Easter Road and Hibernian.

So sue me.

I found it ridiculous that a Hibs fan wanted to rush into a thread to point out the bleeding obvious that if someone wasn’t a hibs player, or performed cup final heroics, he wouldn’t be highly thought of on here.

I also found linking the Shaun woodburn case fairly ridiculous, as well as “not giving a ****” about his career continuing downwards.

I never said anyone had to want to be his neighbour or even call him a legend, only that the earlier post was a ridiculous one. Given your other contribution was a cheap dig about borrowing money, I’m not surprised we are not in agreement.

No sueing required - many people are glad he has now gone. Again, I never said I had any issue with that.

Of course it is a team game and I regard the whole squad as legends. However I would go as far as saying that if it wasn't for Stokes' performance we wouldn't have won that day.

He certainly has his flaws and Lennon has my full backing that he has got rid of Stokes in the best interests of the club but I think it's important that we don't downplay how significant he was to us winning the cup.
