....has been voted best away ground in the country BY THE FANS. And I quote 'Tynecastle retained its position as the ground most away fans like to visit with Victoria Park as second favourite, ahead of Easter Road.'

I got this info from Scottish Football Supporters Assoc. so there we go. I have never been to tynecastle but really?

Clearly the poll was done in the cathro banter years when most teams went away happy..

It regularly seems to do well but the atmosphere from the home end is genuinely rank. Facilities are basic and that new turnstile situation is unfit for purpose.

Genuinely don't see the attraction and not because I'm a Hibs fan.

I try to look at these things as fairly as possible but I just don't get how Tynecastle is so popular.

I've got to be honest - I just can't stand the place because of all the maroon !. I associate that colour with losing, it's like a failed pink, something that isn't really a colour but isn't really a shade - in short, it's Hearts, a totally pointless and unnecessary item that if it was to vanish overnight, the world wouldn't notice or shed a tear !

I think it's to do with the atmosphere generated by steep-sided stands which tower over a tiny pitch - bringing fans closer to the action. The stadium is all but enclosed, which again helps amplify even the rustle of a crisp packet by your normally subdued Jambo.

Very strange. Empty pink seats and no atmosphere? It surely has to be the capital city value

Been one of my favourite away grounds recently but largely because of the results.

The facilities are crap, but it is a good stadium to watch football. I'd much rather watch football there than one of the cold and corporate English stadiums.

I think it's like when we visited "good old-fashioned" grounds in the championship. Fans go along on a nostalgia trip and think aren't these ****holes how real football stadiums used to be.

I think they are living on the memories of the atmosphere of 10+ years ago.

The tynecastle atmosphere is a bigger myth than the Loch Ness Monster. Unless Its the away end on derby day.

That’s the dot count for Sat . They better hope St Johnstone fill the away end or it’s looking like 12k tops . Pmsl .
Wheatfield: 2517
Main: 1907
Gorgie: 1653

Total: 6077

Hearts season tickets: 14,000 (minimum, as per November 2017, before half-season tickets went on sale)
Unsold dots for the St Johnston game: 6077
Total home attendance + empty seats: 20,077 (minimum)

Official capacity at TC: 20,099
Difference: 22

I think it's safe to say that they're going to fill up St Johnston's apparent ticket allocation of 22, though I'm not sure it's going to help any. Either that, or the Gorgie faithful have been on the phone en masse to tell HMFC that they won't be going to the match on Saturday.

Maybe Tynecastle is the best stadium for away fans because they more or less have it all to themselves.

A Facebook friend posted other survey results from the same mob yesterday. Best set of away fans? The sheep followed by the jambos then the 'Ton. Any none else know anyone who voted? Me neither.....
