Good win, made it hard for ourselves in the last 15 mins as we sat back on the lead, delighted for Barker and Kamberi, the lassie can play a bit. Thought the ref was atrocious and allowed Motherwell to get away with their rough house tactics, good 3 points though.

Though it was an excellent performance tonight, with great application by all the players. Was a bit worried after all the disruption with Stokes situation, McGinn speculation etc but the guys did really well.

Not sure about Lennon's tactics toward the end (we had too many defensive mids and defenders on the pitch) where we sat too deep and invited Well onto us. Just glad we hung on for the win, huge 3 points

Not a failure in the team, but special mention for Bartley who did a heck of job when he came on at HT, Barker for getting his goal, and Hanlon who was immense (apart from at their goal).

Very good win as we were pretty poor for the last 35 minutes. No idea what Hanlon and Efe were up to at their goal. Either could have cleared easily. Kamberi put in a great shift and a good goal. I thought McGinn was our MOTM and was yet again fouled relentlessly by the Well cloggers.

First half was really good. We attacked at pace.

Special mention for Kamberi up top. Perfect debut.

SJM was my motm. I've been critical of him at times over the last few months but he was excellent tonight imo.

Now just sign a nice contract extension so we get decent bucks in the summer for you lad

Absolutely delighted at the result and the overall team quality and spirit. Since the disappointment of the derby we've played three and won two with good performances in all of them. The new striker looks a find and it was brilliant seeing Brandon finally get a deserved goal. There's plenty to be very positive about at Easter Road not least that we've moved further away from the yams whose resurgence seems to have faltered in the last two games.

Good I thought for what little time he was on. He's clearly an attacking full back which I think could add a lot providing he can do it with a bit of prudence. Bit too early to say how good a full back he is though.

Really pleased with that win. Motherwell are pretty physical all over the park but we dealt with that comfortably. They also have a good deal of pace throughout the team but we do now too.

I feel this was one of our home games where we were full of energy and buzzing as a team right from the start. In some home games this season it has not been like that so I sensed we would get a result early on.

We were exciting to watch - particularly in the first half.

Marciano, McGregor, McGinn, Slivka, Boyle, Barker and Kamberi were all good tonight. Obviously many of us were keen to see Kamberi. I was quite impressed by him. Good energy and effort, strength and some pace. He also won headers with his back to their goal and held the ball up well - two things we haven't seen from Hibs strikers in a while. Took his goal well and enjoyed it!

We lack any real attacking threat from our full-backs - which is a weakness - although both defended okay.

I thought McGeouch had a poor game by his high standards. I thought that this, together with Slivka going off injured at half time, contributed to us conceding the midfield for much of the second half. Bartley did quite well defensively when he came on but there was only really McGinn in our midfield who was able to keep the ball and use it well as the second half progressed. I would have preferred to see Swanson replace Slivka for this reason but that's probably why I'm not in the dugout.

Good performance overall though and deserved three points.

All 3 were poor for the goal no doubt about that. Hanlon misses the bounce and then they are in the box so he has to stay up, Efe should be more aware of the fight of the ball and just head it clear, and Rocky should collect what was actually a poor shot.

There was also that shambles at the death when we failed to clear it and gifted them a chance. Rocky reacted smartly to tip it over the bar.

Given how solid our defence was in previous seasons it is a worry. Hopefully our new rb will help shore us up a bit.

Just watched BBC highlights .... 2nd goal was superb. Marv nips in and robs their guy of the ball, 5 or 6 passes and only about a dozen touches of the ball later it's in the back of the net. Some good quick passing, a great timed ball by SJM to Boyle, who shows superb composure to pick his head up and find Barker who slams it into the top corner. A thing of beauty!

Thought Ambrose was more at fault for their goal than Hanlon. Should’ve just dealt with the ball instead of watching it float by him.

Our problem is that Hanlon and Efe are (very) good 90% of the time - its just that we are very exposed if one of them screws up - if Daz is around, he tends to clear up as he is a totally solid, no nonsense defender, had a great game last night until he went off injured.

I have little doubt that Daz would have won the header at the first ball, and Hanlon then wouldnt have been under pressure at the goal.

Obviously Daz is getting on a bit, but we seem to have a ready made replacement in Porteous.

I found it infuriating watching players turn into trouble rather than play a pass out. Seemed to happen a lot last night. I couldn't get over how much man handling was going on with kamberi. There were times he had his shirt pulled right over his chest. We did seem to lose a bit of composure towards the end but we got the three points. You don't have to win pretty. Just ask potter

paddy1875
01-02-2018, 08:05 AM
If your playing centre half and the balls there to win, you win it. Ambrose had the chance to but left it to Hanlon when there was a man with him.
Hanlon played with daz for about 60-65 mins of the game. He’s expecting Efe to get his head on it like daz would have. It’s one on these things when a forced change is made to a centre half pairing during a game. Hanlon should know by now to adapt when playing with efe but it’s just one of these things.

Thought hanlon had a good game tonight.
