Now a free agent after being released by Servette (https://twitter.com/migoudresser/status/958296202012917761).

I don't usually believe in the "could he come back and do a job for us" mantra, however on this rare occasion, I genuinely believe that this man has the skill and the natural ability to unlock defences in a way that we've been struggling to all season. Not trying to get anybody's hopes up, but I would love to see Hibs make a move for him today.

They never come back (boxing term).
I feel like that about players who have left Hibs (mind you, with a few exceptions ..... & Malonga isn't one of them).

Maybe it's because having played for Hibs they become like, eh ..... faimily? :dunno:

Do you think we'll manage to be linked with a return for Stokes before this window is out?

The peculiar Bain business and all, this really has been the strangest of transfer windows.

CMurdoch

He has only been away from Hibs for 2 years and in that time has played a total of 26 games for 3 different teams in 3 different countries.
The very definition of journeyman.

timing of this Bain stuff is as per usual all wrong for us...I truly think Rodgers thinks we could hurt them so wants to unsettle us....T'was ever the way and always shall be so

Absolutely no chance, HTB. Rodgers, like his predecessors, sees us as a farm team, there just to make up the numbers (as do his nearby rivals).

bring back the 36 yr old Dobermeister! 23 goals so far/ scored another couple last week I think. the ultimate poacher, which we no longer have and have not had for years.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat. I used to love watching him and Scott Allan in the same team, both very gifted footballers.

His hold up play was also excellent which we are desperately missing in this team and have been since day 1 of the season.

If he was replacing the big Lithuanian then I'd do it in a heartbeat too. It's not often you get players with genuine class and we'd be nuts not to at least enquire and see if he fancies it till the end of the season

hibsbollah
31-01-2018, 06:41 AM
Nothing to do with sentiment, it just makes sense. He'd be cheap and he's exactly the type of player in the exact same position we've been weak in all season. We have enough honest grafters that can't play a decent final ball already.

Malonga seems to get each month goes by....he did score some great goals. And was wonderful to watch at times ...yet I think he only scored about 10 goals i his last 40
Or so games for us , after a much better rate to start with .

It’s a no from me - I’d rather he is remembered as a cult hero than a poor performer

allezsauzee

Dom has a huge amount of talent but I think people forget that he's very lazy too. I don't see us cutting Stokes loose only to replace him with another enigmatic striker.

One of favourite players in recent times.
A true cult player. And THAT goal against Aberdeen.

We need a good striker song again.

Shaw doesn't have one, Stokes is gone, Murray is off the boil so less attractive to the ladies, MacLaren needs development so bring it on I say.

People screaming out for Grant Holt to get an extended contract less than a year ago, yet think it’s ridiculous to suggest Someone like Malonga would be a good signing based on the fact he would be returning having played previously.

I don’t get it.

SideBurns
31-01-2018, 08:47 AM
Given Malonga's nomadic existence over the past couple of years, he seems unable to settle anywhere. I'm making an assumption here, but his clubs wouldn't appear to be too bothered about keeping him either!

eezyrider
31-01-2018, 08:56 AM
Dominque was brought in as he fitted in the team at the time. His form since leaving hasn't exactly been great which is why he has had so many teams since then.

We are now a different team playing at a higher level. And history shows they're rarely as good when they come back a second time.

It's a no from me.

A bit different. Raised his game for the premiership teams and big games.

If we turned up on trial, I'd be less than upset. He's got that natural talent and calmness we're missing up top.

Could do something different or produce that little bit of magic or goal out of nothing, we don't have anyone in the team who currently offers that.

Not for me...was magic at times..but people tend to forget he was often not a starting 11 player in his second season..and equally scored very few goals in his last 8 months with us..I'm happy I remember him as a maverick genius, rather than a poor re-signing..

I know we all laugh about the comic value but it has a serious side.

Dom 'got' Hibs. He also 'got' the cringeworthy west coast media obsession with all things rantic.

he was clearly p'ed off at being asked at interview something that had nothing to do with his team.

So, like John Collins did several years previously, he told the hack that he wasnt interested in answering any questions about teams other than Hibs. And called them 'The Rangers' to boot.

I wish all players followed his lead.

In that video and the Scott Allan compilation, the sight of SDG bombing forward is a joyous one. Good in the air in the opposition box too. What a miss he is.

No chance. He's a journeyman who will only be at his next club for a few months before moving on yet again amid media reports that "things didn't quite work out for him". Another that appears to make a living off signing on fees.

I don’t think I have ever seen a man walk slower than him though. If he walked any slower I think the earth’s rotation would overtake him and he woul travel back in time.

Think this just shows Dom’s commitment to the cause. He’s obviously vying for selection by Pat Fenton for the 1-5 cup final game v the Jambos where he might have made a difference. Legend.

We probably need another striker as we only really have 3 to choose from, unless Lennon thinks he could play Boyle or Barker there in an emergency.

He’s available and I wouldn’t be upset to see him back.

Pretty much my thoughts too. He scores goals and has that creative spark. He could do a job for us until the end of the season.
