Plenty space in the outback for him to run about in.

Good for him but I'd be fuming if someone with a Scottish grandad wanted to rock up like that in the squad 😆

Plays a blinder in the World Cup could earn us some decent money!

Not so clued up on the Aussie squad, does he have a decent chance of getting picked? I suppose if scouts will be over to keep an eye on Maclaren he could maybe impress

It says his Dad was born in Sydney. I still get what you mean, but If I was from Scotland and moved to Australia for example, id want my son to play for scotland.

They have to make their own mind up. My two were born in Scotland but raised in the U.S. from a young age - my daughter will tell you she is a Scot but my son will tell you he is American.....

His conversion rate will need to improve to get anywhere near the squad I would imagine.

Personally I think he needs to talk less and focus on improving his finishing.

Ryan Edwards who plays for partick got a call up last year so would imagine Boyle will be looked at.

Id imagine he would be called up as a winger so it wont be as important to them as if he was a striker.

Australia is desperate for a goal scorer.
We still roll out 38 year old Tim Cahill for important games, and in all fairness to him, he has managed to deliver when needed.

Whether the just appointed new Socceroo manager will use him in Russia is another matter as appointing a new coach for the World cup means all bets are off as far as 'favourites' go.

I reckon Boyle would make the squad..but he needs to convince the new Dutch guy in charge not me...

He's Scottish, pimping himself to the Aussie Squad annoys me, show some loyalty to your own country ! Fair enough if Australia actually approached him and asked him to play in the World Cup, he would certainly have a difficult decision to make..but coming out and touting himself is poor in my opinion. A subtle call from his agent to the Aussie FA would have done the same job and made him look less of a mercenary.

getting a bit carried away with himself if he feels he is due an international call up...Probably wrong, but I cant recall a single assist from his play so far this season...lots of running, not a lot of return.

Not sure how I feel about this one. On the one hand, good for him. But on the other I think he could do a job for Scotland (definitely off the bench) so I'd be keen for him not to play for oz.

What a player he would be if he could finish!
