Maybe he didn't fancy working with the blazers at the cross between a bowling Club committee and Masonic Lodge membership that is responsible for steering the clowns bicycle that is Scottish football, they appointed Malky MacKay FFS. Just shuffling managers around won't solve Scottish football's problems. They should go the whole hog and appoint Malky as manager.

Plan B not available either now (paul lambert)

Step down Alex Mcleish.......the only candidate we only ever wanted.

FWIW I wasn’t convinced about Michael O’Neill but the way it’s all been done has been a shambles.

Agree, the lack of enthusiasm from the SFA to move it forward quickly was insulting towards him.

Guess we'll end up with another no hoper has been. Alex McLeish come on down.

Suspect Mcleish will get the job.

Looking at SkyBet odds there really aren't many genuine candidates, hopefully this means the SFA have to use their imagination and think outside the box a little.

Me too...not convinced about him at all...so was not excited by the prospect.

Tbh..even if I did fancy him fore the role.what's in it for him? Despite my personal views, he already has a track record at international level that should help him get a decent club role. Also NI are offering him higher package than we are, so not sure why he would want to take the job on anyway.. decision does not surprise me in any way.

Is Rod Pertie on the sub committee (there just had to be a committee with the SFA involved, didnt there)... if RP is, and I suspect that he is, then are we surprised at this failure as he overseen some of the most baffling and pathetic appointments of managers at Hibs during his tenure.

The way they've handled this appointment is ridiculous.

You have to base your style on what players you have available. Scotland just don't have the players to play football at that level.

I disagree there are an awful lot of very average international teamsnset up with the sole purpose of not losing. I dont expect us to play Germany France etc but the level below that why not?

OK.. so I’ll bite. Are you telling the world that Rod hasn’t been heavily informed in picky every manager since Williamson.. that includes Mixu, Yogi, Calderwood, Fenlon, Sauzee and as being on the Professional Game Board of the SFA has no influence on the next Manager of Scotland?

Rod has done a lot of good, very good at Hibs in fact, but he’s a poor judge of a football manager.

Rod has done a lot of good, very good at Hibs in fact, but he’s a poor judge of a football manager. There's no logic to what you're saying. The SFA obviously want O'Neill but it looks like he's going to refuse (we can only speculate as to the reason) . Therefore this has nothing to do with a duff appointment by Petrie or anyone else and everything to do with a cheap shot for the sake of it.
