Left the house this morning at 4.30 my only worry was Kaimes road but thankfully it had been ploughed and gritted overnight.

I heard that....English reporter reading made-up nonsense. Followed by footage of loads of cars negotiating the bypass without any problems whatsoever.

I was intending to travel from Peebles to West Kilbride via the M8, A737 later this afternoon. Don’t know if I should err on the side of caution.

Got up 20 minutes earlier, left the house 20 minutes earlier, arrived at work 25 minutes earlier. Most of the main routes in the city are fine.

My dad's off playing golf down the East coast today - no snow whatsoever apparently!

Stark contrast here in Lanark - it's literally knee deep in some places - was 8 inches yesterday evening, and it snowed all through the night and has only just gone off this morning!

Thankfully, working from home was an easy option this morning.

If "carnage" means clear roads and a light dusting of snow on the pavements then he's spot on!

So frustrating for me whenever there's snow. My street never gets cleared by the council and it's left to the residents, most of whom are getting on in life so it's not easy for them. I'm literally 30 seconds from the main road which is totally clear but getting there is just impossible.

I realise the priority has to be main roads but we are effectively stranded here just now unless you drive a 4×4.

I remember years ago a similar 2"-3" snow fall. I was working in the town most folk fwho lived in the satelite towns (Dalkeith, Queensferry, Haddington) made it in more or less on time while some who lived in Edinburgh toddled in at 11am 'because of all the snow'

Reminds me of the time my manager phoned in to say he couldn't get to work from his home 7 miles away. I had managed from 30 miles away then around 11 a colleague got in from Kirkcaldy, 28 miles away, the journey taking him right past the managers door!!

Last night the bus took 48 minutes to travel the 2 miles from work to the Perth boundary because there was a wee bit of snow and the traffic was gridlocked!

We had a colleague who lived off Liberton Brae and couldn't come to work because "she couldn't get her car out of her drive safely". We work in Regent Road!!!

She then moved to Penicuik and wouldn't be seen for a week at the first hint of snow.

To be fair, I had a couple of dodgy moments in the car this morning around 7am in the city centre.

I tried to go up Nelson Street but I couldn't as a car had got stuck going up the hill and was slipping back down the hill. I reversed back and went along Great King Street then up Dundas Street. I got stopped at the lights at Queen Street and when I first tried to pull away the car went skidding. Second time, I had to put my foot right down to get it to move. I dropped my wife off at Charlotte Square and turned around to go home. Going down the hill of North Charlotte Street, the lights were at red and my brakes just didn't work at all. I managed to stop by going through the gears. I decided to stick to Queen Street/York Place/Elm Row to get back and it was fine.

I decided to ‘take a risk’ despite the continuous BBC reports about ‘problems’ at Leadburn and also at the Beith bypass. I’ve been at my destination for an hour now. There was not the slightest sign of any problems as warned and in fact they are still emphasising the ‘problems’ at Leadburn. Their updating leaves a bit to be desired.
