From March the new registration will come out and there will be the possibility of over 17,000 new plates with H18S in them. Will anyone else be looking to take advantage of this.

Pardon my ignorance on such matters, but won't the new number plate be two letters followed by the year.

E.g. SG18...........

Went on sale in November. I have EH18 SFC.

You can buy the plates prior to the new cars being on sale.

The 18 plates were available form the DVLA but only up until December. They seem to have gone now.

I looked at _H18 EES plates and most were £399. If I recall correctly OH18 EES was £799 along with a couple of others.

I liked XH18 EES and got it for £399.

All I need now is a new car as you can't attach it to any car registered before March 2018.

I used to have an Irish HIB 5 plate when I was younger. I used to be paranoid about parking it in the city centre in case some jambo deviant key'd it. Just left it on the car when I sold it.

Me too I got pulled over on way to Dens Park years ago for having H18S FE. Now I have H18 SFE - haven’t taken the risk of putting back, although it is tempting!

How much was/is the fine?

How much was/is the fine?

Up to £1000 fine and a failure to pass the car's MOT.

He had to go to Swiney for a Jam home game. They were jealous because he got the three points (on his licence).

Been stopped a couple of times and just told to correct the pacing. No fine involved.

Police can report you to DVLA and they can cancel the number without remuneration.

I’ve got H18 SBH on retention just now. Had it over 20 years on various cars.
Bought my mid life crisis/retirement dream car a few months ago - Jaguar 3.0 D XFS Portfolio.
Relatively rare but I wanted it!!

Only problem was the colour. Claret red. Some look at it as being “maroon”. It’s dark red/light burgundy at worst. So decided to keep the original reg plate.
Am I being a bit paranoid? Should I just think, to hell, can Leith accept a Hibby reg plate on an almost “maroon”coloured car?

ha ha mate, couldn’t bring myself to have a car with any shade of maroon.

But wasnt that pretty much the standard colour for that car?

I have a very (and I mean very) green coloured car. I had the choice of white or red. No choice on reflection. Fringe benefit is it’s very easy to find in a busy car park.

No Hibs plate unfortunately.

Yeah. MkII Jags from the 60s/70s tended to be that colour but my one is not a ‘classic’ from that era.

Strange but I’ve kinda followed my old man in buying a car (Austin Princess) that colour. He put up with it for a wee while but eventually got it resprayed black. Not sure I’ll go that far though!!

I’m happy to see past the colour cos it’s nowhere near like the dark mucky Hertz maroon and as I say, it’s pretty much my dream car so prepared to accept it, despite the possible colour connotations.

I've still got my number plate from Munich, MCN-1875 (specially requested plates were only an extra 30 euros), but I now have to re-register in the UK.

I don't fancy paying silly money for a British Plate, though.

just skimming thru this again, when I noticed the "concern" over having a hibs plate......I got verbals from a jambo prick at the BBQ corstorphine once......nothing to worry about, he was just mouthing off as they do....and I also got verbals from a van on the M8...again no real problem.

What got me to put mine (X3 HFC) on retention was the prick who tried to run me off the road just outside the Gyle (morning off the hibs vs hearts SC tie). That was it for me. He actually clipped my passenger side wing (£200 damage) driving at speed up to my car, and despite going to the police, there was nothing they could do (No CCTV). (he'd shot off up the inside lane before I had a chance to go after him as I was so shocked).
Don't need that **** in my life....

I live in New Zealand and soon after I arrived in 1996 I bought the HIBS plate. Over the years friendly fans of all Scottish teams have approached me for a chat.

How do I attach an image to the message using my iPhone?

The same day as this thread started I bought a NZ plate of HIBEE5 - as you will know you can add some of your own messages above and below the plate so in green I have got Hibernian FC (above ) and below I have got Easter Road Edinburgh

The guy who has got the HIBEES plate only lives a few streets way from me here in Auckland.

I have not seen a Jambo plate thankfully !

Verbals is banter which I like.
However, your other incident is well beyond the pale and not something I considered happening.
Was more concerned about a message scratched into the paint etc.

Indeed......you had to see this to believe it...absolute madman....and if I hadn't braked and swerved he'd have seriously smashed my front wing.....as it happens grazed it....but enough to cost me plenty.

I have H18 SWP never had any problems with it apart from the police I had it on as H18S WP and was stopped and told that there should be a space and was told to change it back. I have had it for years seen some one with H18 SPW witch is what I was after as the one I have is my name back to front.
