What a strange thing to suggest just because I don't like a pop group.

What makes you say that Pete?

Its an assumption that Hibees love the Proclaimers and Jambos hate them. Best take it in the lighthearted way it was intended.

Fair enough.

Just don't like it being implied that I'm one of that lot!

Pretty sure the Proclaimers don't like it being implied that they are a pop band.

Obviously Pete was jesting, chill oot man.

That's the second time I've seen it.anybody notice st one of their gigs there was a jambo strip being waved about in the crowd, recognised it because of the wonga logo on the top.

Find it detestable that one has to like a pop group because they support your team and have written a ditty about where they play. By the same token I even know some Hearts fans who actually don’t like the music of Gary Glitter.

On the other hand, every single hearts fan has a vinyl copy of Jake the Peg by Rolf Harris.

:greengrin The irony is that the good doctor probably sold them all the pegs, right about the time when they ran out of £4000 plastic owls.

Love the Proclaimers, proud to have them as Hibees and their song as our anthem. Watched the documentary also and like others have said, it was a brilliant watch! Cup Final footage in their too for all to see, lovely!

My first recollection of this terrific pair of Hi bee supporting twins was totp with this heartfelt song. Not long after they went viral with 500 miles. Brilliant.

Second time I've seen it .... I agree you don't have to like the Proclaimers just coz you are a Hibby, conversely I know a few Jambos who love SOL as a song.

What bugs me about the documentary is the heavy influence the Housemartins and Dexy's Midnight Runners had in helping them out in the early days, two bands I couldn't bloody stand :greengrin

I do like the Proclaimers. especially their gritty delivery of songs, even their love songs. Which is why I just don't understand how in the name o' the wee man they allowed that saccharine sweet destruction of their material 'Sunshine on Leith' to ever see the light of day. It was like watching Danny Boyle cast Julian Clary in the part of Begbie.

And a fair number of weegies also.

Around ten years ago I had seen them at the Corn Exchange with the usual retinue of people in Hibs colours filling the venue. I was talking about it to a workmate in Glasgow and he said that he was at the concert in Glasgow on the same tour. Strangely half the audience there had Hibs colours!

Mind you I have been to gigs at Barrowlands (the Pogues and Christie Moore) where everyone else seemed to be in Celtic colours.
