I don't know why folk bring this up every year, it's tiresome. Manager thinks the players he has in reserve are still good enough to beat lower league opposition so plays them. I hate it but it's hardly a new phenomenon and is as much a part of the cup now as the cup final.

Agree but as holders you think Arsenal would at least attempt to put up a decent defence of the trophy.

Perhaps I brought it up because it's relevant? how much money is pumped in to this completion? yep, millions and you'd think that all the big clubs would want to be there at Wembley for the final but it seems the bigger clubs are really not taking it seriously enough by putting out really crap teams like West Ham today, at least Shrewsbury got a replay out of it, let's see if Moyes repeats his folly in the replay.

Arsenals 2nd team should have enough to beat a team 14th in the league below. Plenty of top internationals and experience in that side who, given a chance to stake a 1st team claim, didn't do much.

OK the Premier league teams and anyone else for that matter playing lower league opposition, put out teams with fringe or youth players in it. The game has changed, the cup competitions in England are the best way of blooding younger players in or giving fringe players much needed game time. The manager/coach has to try and balance such considerations with putting a team out he feels will be good enough to win the game, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Its where we are at. In England (and I suspect Scotland) the gulf between "development" teams, Youth teams etc and the first team is enormous, from the "big" clubs pov it makes sense.

The excitement of the fans of the so-called smaller teams must be diminished when they realise they are unlikely to see the likes of Sanchez, Ozil etc. They won't be too fussy now right enough.

Palace home to Burnley is huge for the Eagles, too close to the bottom 3 to be dropping points at home to Burnley who are starting to struggle
Curious to see if Jase is in the Forest squad. And if Dundee Utd dont beat Dunfermline theyre going to lose touch with St Mirren, and be watching out for Dunfy and Livvy who will likely beat Brechin

They're playing again today, currently 4-0 down at half time and defensively all over the shop. New full back is playing, looks decent on the ball but literally all over the place when they're defending. All the goals have come from Nurnberg playing down the flanks and with width. Obviously it's a friendly but I'd say that they are playing 3 of the back 4 that'll play against us in the cup game.

Sterling hasn’t had a sniff. He’s losing the plot and just been subbed.
And Sterling goes off, picking lint and fluff out of his hair from being in Robertson's pocket all afternoon.

Robertson has been superb today, a genuinely top class Scottish player who looks a total stand out against the best team in England.

My mates' cousin, got rejected by Celtic youth team for being too small and used it as a motivation throughout his teenage years :aok:

His attitude is superb, he's had to wait to get a run of games in the Liverpool team but would like to think he's now cementing his position as first choice LB.

18 games unbeaten now, fairly consistent at the moment!
Never realised that, if they had started the season like that.... Who knows.

On the day Citys amazing run came to an end Barca are 2 down against Real Sociedad after 35 minutes. Fully deserved too.
Great match earlier between Liverpool and City.

That was a strange one, the ref actually ran in front of the player. Hopefully the player doesn't get punished for the afters. He looked like he was asking the ref why he tried to kick him.

Some great games this weekend, only to finish with tonight's borefest at old trafford.
Jose Mourinho really is just Tony Pullis with hair a suntan and money.
1-0 utd.

Maybe it's just me, but i find them boring to watch now. Obviously we were all spoilt with the fergie years, but this is night and day compared to his time in my opinion.
Chelsea were similar in style, although they were better but still seemed to stifle a game when a goal or two up.
Jesus Christ, just seen Stephen Ireland playing for Stoke, i thought he'd retired years ago?

First decent EPL match I’ve seen in ages, it was a cracker.
Watched Cardiff v Sunderland on Saturday and that was turgid.
