What is the official Hibs tartan these days? I was in McCalls a few weeks ago and they are still hiring out the Hibs tartan I seen doing the rounds for many years with a noticeable purple in it. This is also still the Hibs tartan listed in the register:

https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails?ref=1701

However the stuff currently on sale in the club shop seems very different and the purple seems to have disappeared:

https://www.hiberniandirect.co.uk/accessories/general-accessories/tartan-passport-wallet

Was there ever an announcement of a change? I know the old wooden tartan scarves disappeared from the shop a few years ago now and wondered if that was when the change happened?

I like the original tartan although the passport holder looks smart. Worth asking fans rep when or if it has officially changed?

This IMHO is the Hibs tartan. No idea what the one in the shop is.

Always promised myself a kilt in this tartan at some point.

It would be tough wrapping it round your neck if it was.

Just looked at the Scotland shop. £34! Can't remember them being that pricey at the Hibs shop. Are they a collector's item now?

i'l be perfectly honest, i was really quite disappointed when i first touched the scarf out the bag, although it has the label 100% wool on it, i'm just going to stick to my present green/white/dark green 'fluffy wool' bar scarf for wearing to the footy...just keeping the new one for casual wear, i'm positive i briefly saw tartan ones in the club shop during the summer (£18 iirc) and wished i had just got that one at the time :agree: i'm maybe just not used to wearing high fashion material scarfs :)

That's the one .... I still have the original scarf and its 10 X better than the ones they are selling in the shop. I sincerely hope Hibs don't change it because it absolute quality and for the guy saying he was going to wear it in his kilt when he gets married go for it mate .... my pal and his family wore Hibs kilts at his wedding years ago and it looks smart as hell :agree:

I'm sure I heard a while back that we didn't own the rights to the one with purple in it, we got asked to pay more money or something to keep using it, we declined and the new one minus the purple was rolled out instead, might be a myth but makes a bit sense, the purple one is far superior

The wife likes to impress the French [emoji6] I've got 48 year old wool one (known as the lucky scarf - it's success rate is dubious) and one of the earlier tartan ones from the shop.

As worn by the previous Pope as he scooted about in his popemobile along Princes St and up Lothian Rd. (moving the stationary trams in the process - a miracle)

Was in the club shop yesterday and they had a few lambswool scarfs in the Hibs tartan (with the purple) for £25.

Agree with this, got mine from there and they’re really good quality although not necessarily the warmest in the depths of winter. Or at least that’s what I remember, since I lost mine on the train back from the League Cup Semi this season 😢

I had to replace my original one as I managed to bung it in the washing machine, came out the size of a hanky! I love it but tend to use it sparingly. I have a saville rouge scarf in green white and black, I was given a green and white one as a present but it felt too celtc for me (it was a pale green I prefer the darker green) so I exchanged it for the London Irish rugby scarf (although they now have it in the Hibernian section). Lovely scarf.
