It's a sobering thought that while money is getting spent at a rate of knots this Christmas by many of us, there are still families in crisis who are being referred to food banks. A bag of shopping is nothing for most going to today's game.

Went to Meadowbank Sainsbury's specifically yesterday. It's an absolute shambles that food banks have to exist in 2017 Britain but glad to do my wee bit in helping them.

Well done, mate, you're a good egg. We will be taking some stuff along too. It's a national disgrace we have people going hungry, but here we are a decade in to austerity and welfare cuts.

I'm coming through from Aberdeen as we speak but will pop into a shop and get a few things. Where abouts at ER do you drop it off?

Crazy how this is necessary in 2017. Food banks. What a total shambles we're making.

Picking up some stuff in Forfar or Dundee on the way down. A bag of groceries is nothing to many of us but will make a huge difference to someone else

Is there just the one collection point or will they be situated at various locations?

Are sweets alright? Might be a small treat for a youngster who needs one at this time of year.

I’ve just been to Morrisons and picked up most things on the list as well as dipping my own kitchen cupboards. Really doesnt cost a fortune but can make a huge difference to families this Christmas.

Get involved if you can!!

Merry Christmas to everyone.

No, they won't be hard to miss outside Easter Road at various points. Here is the list of general non perishable foodstuffs that are desired should anyone be stopping in at shops on their way to the game.

I'll get some shopping from Tesco on the way to ER, as stated above its shocking that food banks exist in 2017, but it certainly warms the heart that so many are willing to contribute to help those less fortunate, especially at this time of year. Well done fellow Hibees.

Never thought I would be doing this in 2017. Serious questions need asked of our politicians:confused:

Serious questions need asked about capitalism.

You can't have extreme rich without extreme poverty.

:agree:

This and sleep in the park, while great initiatives doing great things is shocking, the fact that this burden is being carried by ordinary people trying to make a difference shouldn't be necessary. They shouldn't have to. Politicians at Westminster and hollyrood should be having a serious look at themselves as running a country like Scotland/UK that still has homelessness and needs food banks in 2017 is poor.

Well done to all those who help, hopefully you won't have to soon.

In the 21st century in a developed country, it's f***ing scandalous... Still, so long as we're reducing the country's debt (we are, aren't we :dunno:), it's all for the best

I dropped my stuff off quite early, Billy and they'd already amassed tons of stuff. Great to see but sickening that there's a need in our supposedly wealthy nation.

Fake news apparently.

What's true though is in this day and age there shouldn't be food banks. Popped down with a bag of stuff.

Great effort from all involved

Dropped a couple of bags off about 1:30 and there looked to be a lot of stuff then ... when I went for a fag at half time there was an absolute ton of carrier bags piled up against the wall across the road from the FF, if that was anything to go by the amount of stuff donated must have been impressive, well done fellow Hibbies :not worth

Our masters must be chuffed that folk are still prepared to care for their fellow man like this, enabling them to divert billions and billions of much needed funds to buy nukes from America we can never use and build leaky aircraft carriers we cant afford to put actual aircraft on :aok:

Thanks to the guys doing the collecting.

The effort they put in today will help many of the poor, and needy families suffering from the effects of the greedy in our society.

Well done to all who contributed.
