Was bloody freezing. I was strangely comfident, we had the better of the 1st derby of that season at ER which ended 1-1 and I'm sure we beat them 3-1 at ER later in the season as well in the Sauzees teeth game.

Remember Sauzees goal being replayed about 20 times on the TVs they had in the concourse at the time and every time it hit the net the whole concourse erupted. We absolutely battered them in the 1st half that night and it could have been more. 2nd half was a bit of a non event as we had the job done but Kenny Miller rounded it off nicely. Great night.

They’d just signed Anti Niemmi or someone and were going to give us a pumping.

Was this not the same season when Mixu dinked a last minute penalty over the bar, finished 0-0? Or it's my old age catching up.

Fitzroy Simpson and Fabien Le Clerq too, they had just gotten the SMG money

On this day 19/12/99 I left my wedding reception at Portsmouth Guild hall and went and watched Hibs beat them at the fleet and Firkin. Was absolutely bouncing as I had about 50-60 guests with me all supporting us.

When the third went in I was on this pub table dancing like a complete tool and the bride in her wedding dress was there too. All the English couldn’t understand that anyone could be so passionate about Scottish football and I had to re-educate them that I wasn’t I was passionate about HIBS.

Now divorced and well let’s just say you can always always get another wife but you’ll never ever get another team.

There was a spell in the 2nd half of that game where Russell Latapy was absolutely unplayable. Could easily have had a hat-trick but somehow didn't score.

I remember the saying at the time, possibly a newspaper headline, Christmas Dirky, with cranberry Sauzee, washed down with a can of Miller.😂😂

That was the season after.
6-2, Cup final and Euro qualification.
The Millenium derby season we had just come back up I think.

Wonderful scenes. That Sauzee strike...what a sweet foot he had. No messing. Loved how he ran the length of the pitch with Yogi to celebrate in front of the Hibs fans.

Let's have a repeat next week :agree:

He had a shot saved after a 1-2, nearly scored from the by-line with the outside of his foot and then chipped inches wide. Would have been THE great hattrick.

Was in the back row of the Roseburn that night, as a few posters have said, was so so cold. It wasn’t until Kenny Miller scored the 3rd, did I feel comfortable. Think Hearts had a few big signings in that team as well!

First match at the shelter. What a night. Sauzee bullet ran all the way back to celebrate with Matty Jack of all people. Great take by the pornstar and Kenny scored and the place emptied.

I was also in the very back row that night! I think it was one of, it not the, first Derby where we had the Roseburn instead of the Gorgie Road end so there was a bit of a novelty value in that as well. You just knew from the first five minutes that we were very much up for it.

Just a shame that irrespective of how he may feel about how he was treated at the time, it will be sixteen years in February since Sauzee was sacked yet not a peep has been heard from him by the Hibs fans who adored him.

Always regretted not going to that one, opting to have a crowd of friends over to the house to watch on TV. Went up town after and shook the scorers of the third goal's hand outside Eros/Elite, a great night.

Terrific night.

Freezing cold but couldn't care less as we virtually controlled the game from start to finish.

Latapy’s chip over Niemi and one off the outside of his left at 2-0. Could have been a pawing. Also seem to remember it being a 6.05 Sunday night game. Bring them back!

Didn’t feel the cold that night, still got my ticket and the evening news from the Monday :greengrin

Didn't Sauzee nutmeg two of them in a row also? My fav Hibs game until the final.

Sure you’re right. He also passed the ball with a nonchalant back heel right across our own goal maybe 25 yards out without even looking. He was so cool he even looked good wearing gloves whilst playing.

😀 I think I remember that too. We owned them that night and it should have been more.
