If it's the same one I'm thinking of, around an hour from the airport in Faro. Opposite direction from Albufeira.

You can drive from Faro in under an hour. There's usually direct flights from Edinburgh but not sure what situation is in deep winter. There's plenty from Gatwick.

The train's a bit weird Billy, but I know you can go to Seville from Faro, think the gauges change at the border or some strange deal. If you're in Real Villa then you're right on the border, there's a 15 minute ferry across to Spain, but there's probably a bus service, at least to Seville.

The town is Villa Real San Antonio, I'm afraid I've never stayed there. An alternative, is Tavira, nice town with decent hotels about 20 mins away.

I was just looking at that. The closest direct flight out from Edinburgh is on the Tuesday - Ryannair. It initially said £91 but when I clicked on continue it had gone up to £116 return so people are obviously starting to book up

Was over for the Notts Forrest game and flew into and from faro and got train to villa real de santo Antonio. Just be aware lots of trains don’t go as far as here but stop if I remember correctly Tavira.

From what I can tell flights are bad getting out there but seems to be a flight coming back on Saturday. Been looking online to flying out to Lisbon and getting the train down first thing Friday morning does anyone know what time kick off would be at ( if I remember the forrest game was in the evening)?

However can anyone who finds any decent deals times etc let me know as I’m seriously interested in going.

Glasgow to Stanstead Thursday morning then Stanstead to Faro Thursday evening. Arrive Faro about 22:05. Then car down to village where game is being played.

Friday football and staying in village then back to Faro Saturday morning and flying back to Glasgow Saturday evening then car back to Edinburgh.

Staying in some cheap hovel ( actually it looks ok but don’t tell the girlfriend that or she might want to tag along ).

Flights cost £155 all in and room was £40 for two nights.

sounds good, seems plenty hotel options- know Faro well but never been to the place where we are playing, driving not ideal, but looks a bit awkward particularly if arriving at night.

Not sure how or where you would book this as me and internet are bad enough in English but Portuguese is not my Forte.
