One comment made by NL at the AGM tonight that Squirrel has signed and new extended contract. Was gushing about how good he has been and the improvements he has made to his game. Was humorous with the comment "When I came here he was always on his backside". "Still only six stone dripping wet" but has learned to ride tackles and stay on his feet while adding great goals to his game.

Didn't give more detail about the contract but has to be great news:nlgwa

Great news. I said before the season started that he'd be an important player for us.

He's fast becoming my favourite.

He has become one our best players, and added to that improvement has been consistency. Signing him on a new deal is excellent news.

We would need a seven figure sum to replace a dangerous winger with pace. This is brilliant news and well done Hibs

Great news!
It's hard not to like Boyle.
Watching him run at opposition defenders is exciting.
His game has gone up a few notches under Neil lennon's watch.
Definitely now one of the top players in the SPL.

Clearly Squirrel has pulled his nuts out of his sack and given us all an early Christmas present. Merry Christmas, starman.

Good to hear. Fingers crossed for Dylan to follow. Building a team around him, Hanlon, Ambrose, Marciano are key when McGinn does inevitably get sold.

kept hoping that he would start this season staying oaf his erse, and get his act together controlling the ba' . he's done both, and to hear that he has signed on again is good news all round:aok:

Great news, he always had great pace, and always created trouble for the opposition. He was a bit raw, but has matured into a very good player who is an important part of our team.

Some folk said he was an impact player at best, but i always thought he was more than that. Well done squirrel, for improving and for making it impossible for the manager to leave you out. :top marks

Can’t think of a player who’s improved so much in such a short time. You can see he’s more direct and is reading the game much better than when he first came to the club.

I really rate him and am delighted he’s signed on again.

He deserves all the credit in the world for how hard he's worked to improve and add more and more elements to his game. He's got the Lewis Stevenson attitude - never say die, give everything you can and improve as much as you can.

I've always said "If we had eleven players with Lewis' attitude we'd win the league" - we're up to two now, arguably three with Simon Murray - eight to go and we'll raise the Scottish Flag :hyper

I wouldn't have thought the contract he signed previously was much more than what he was already on, this will be an improved deal with more money and an extra year or two, as has been said he's become an important player for us and the club are rewarding him.

I was pretty underwhelmed when we fist signed him and considered him a back up.

His pace terrifies defenders but he's added so much more to his game since he's arrived, making more than worthy of getting a starting jersey against any opposition.

...and the boy is a legend. :cup:

Odd given how prominent they are now to think that he, and to a similar extent Bartley, never played a minute of the final.

Forrest is actually having his best season, I would say, up there with player of the season for them so far.....

Boyle has come in leaps and bounds though - so delighted he has signed on..

Just a small point but I dont think he has actually signed yet but has agreed to (as per Hibs AGM update) sign an extension. Hope it gets signed soon as he is now one of our most important players and one of the best attacking players in the league.

Couldn't imagine Boyle telling Lennon now he has had a change of heart. 😂

Great news. No reason with current form continued he can't break into Scotland team.

Boyle or Jamie Walker doesn't even take me this sentence to decide who id rather have

Hero for his post cup final antics, another quality player with a cracking attitude, who can also have a laugh. It's players like these who have helped brought the club closer to the fans, which has all be masterminded by Dempster and Co.

Great news, probably the most improved player at ER in the last year. Its not just his attacking prowess that's impressive but his willingness to track back when we lose the ball. If Barker has come on loan to ER to improve his game he could do worse than look at Martin's attitude and work rate off the ball.

Smartie
08-12-2017, 10:33 AM
I've liked Squirrel since he arrived at ER.

When he first came here he was very raw, all about his blinding pace.

He's clearly worked hard and is now a far more complete player.

Boyle always seemed to be a bit of an unsung hero - for a wide player (who often blow hot and cold) he's very consistent.

He now seems to be receiving some much deserved praise.

It would be a fantastic piece of business to tie him down to a longer deal, as he could find himself being pretty in-demand. He has a lot of attributes that bigger clubs find desirable.

Ronniekirk

He deserves to be rewarded for his displays this Season and it allows us to ramp up any potential Transfer fee it someone wants to prise him away

Must admit that I expected Boyle to be an impact sub in this league, not the guaranteed starter that he deservedly is, so I'm delighted by his new deal.

A great incentive for other like Murray too. Doesn't matter if you've a few years left on your contract, if your performances are show you deserve an improved deal then you'll get one.
