I've no wish to defend the attitudes behind the song, and it has no relevance to football, but its (published) words don't have anything illegal in them.

It's not the losing it's the complete lack of fight, industry, efforts, the fact that they're being run ragged by an abysmal Hun team. The manager is over rated too. Been lucky in his time at Aberdeen that Hibs, hearts and der Hun were out of the league for so long and allowed them to establish the second team In the league.

What do you mean, “what about?”? They have reprehensible songs, and fathers advice is one of them. It doesn’t negate ballengeich (or my) point that Derrys Walls, despite having no place in a Scottish football ground in 2017, has nothing illegal in it.

That's a fair point; they have many other songs which are supposedly banned, yet nothing seems to be done in Scotland. UEFA hammer them every time they are in Europe, due to strict liability.

soft I agree...i think there is some movement, therefore a push...regardless,whether I'm right on that - if you put your two hands on someones back and he goes over in the box, then you are risking a pen...that is what happened. As I said earlier, I can understand how it has been given.

Wow that's a stunningly bad decision.

I never used to think referees in this country cheated but the SFA's behaviour following the demise of Rangers (trying to parachute them into the top flight after their liquidation, a mathematically improbable run of home ties in the cup competitions etc) I'm not sure anymore.

All I know is that whoever beats eventually beats Celtic will be have to overcome two opponents - Celtic and the referee.

If I was a Motherwell fan I'd be wondering why I bother spending £100s funding a sport when there is no level playing field. Might as well burn your money!

truehibernian
29-11-2017, 10:37 PM
Unless they trial video refereeing this will always continue. The clubs in the top flight in particular need to grow a set and lobby the SFA as a collective unit to ensure our referees improve their performances - if not - there should be a real drive to have a weekend of games with neutral refs from another country until video refs are introduced. Unbelievable that rugby, cricket, american football, even horse racing can use it - but football remains in the dark ages. The Scottish set up discusses ref decisions more than it does good football - tragic really.

To counter their dodgy penalties the team that do it will have to score probably at least 3 goals which will have to be ones where there is no chance of judging them offside or any other infringement. Maybe like McGinn's 2 against them.

Ozil was definitely on his game and when he is, he is one of the best in the world.

I've always said that when playing the Old Firm, a ref has to be 100% convinced it's a penalty for the opposition for him to give a penalty. Whereas, he only has to be 50% convinced to give one for the Old Firm. Refs have a difficult job and I'm sure many decisions are based on gutfeel - in such situations they almost always favour the Old Firm.

Celtic over the years have had some shocking decisions in their favour. However, whenever there's one given against them suddenly it's all about bias and it's in the papers for ages.

I couldn’t believe he was trying to argue it was onside. Not even close!

Aberdeen were rotten last night, McInnes always seems to go extremely defensive in the games against bigger teams.

First he said he was a foot offside then said his hand was offside, I don't uunderstand how blatant he could make his lies.

Also don't understand why mcinnes didn't start the same team as they did against killie, came flying out the traps in that game. Maybe trying to make his new job easier...

Yep no idea what he was wittering on about was clear offside as you can get.

It didn't matter in the context of the game but was well offside. Just another decision to join the hundreds of others the infirm have had. Makes Leighs goal against hertz all the more infuriating.

I'm not sure that results last night could have realistically been much worse for us. Aberdeen are still ahead but now Rangers are too. Motherwell are now on a realistic chance of going ahead if they win their game in hand by a few goals and while they've got Moult it's a possibility.

This is why those results where we were getting draws have cause so much frustration, yes we were still 3rd after each but it was giving these teams the chance to get back in to the hunt. Last night will have given them additional confidence as it improved their league positions whereas if we'd taken wins at St Johnstone and Hamilton we'd still be ahead and they'd be chasing. It's a different proposition then.

Time to start turning our good play in to wins to start consolidating 3rd and aiming for 2nd rather than drifting towards 6th.

Aberdeen must be the biggest set of ***** bags vs Mordor Select XI, 9 times out of 10 they are gubbed senseless.

If we could get our **** together in front of goal we're right in it for 2nd.

It was actually Celtics first League penalty of the Season
Perfect Timing to keep record intact

Conveniently awarded a couple of days after Brendan Rodgers was in the press saying '[Celtc] don't get many penalties'.

2 games vs Motherwell, 2 blatant cases of cheating. And will anything be done about it? Will it ****.

Ozil was definitely on his game and when he is, he is one of the best in the world.

There were a couple of one-touch moves that didn't produce goals but highlighted that particular aspect of their game - there's nobody better at movements involving three or four players with only one touch each.

Bang on about Özil, I think he's under appreciated in the UK, because sometimes he huffs and puffs. He's as good as any of the attacking midfielders down south for me.

I don’t agree. Rangers will blow hot and cold, and the last thing we wanted was to fall 7 behind Aberdeen, insurmountable as far as I’m concerned. As it is we are just four behind and all three clubs have a very similar December (those two play again this weekend, so one at leat will drop more points).

Motherwell gained one point, but they play Celtic again on Saturday so will more than likely drop points again.

I am very comfortable with where we are sitting just now with a huge month for all top 6 sides who play each other this month. Come January we will had a proper idea of where we will finish.

Up to a point. The referral system is only as good as the video referee who is normally a current ref.For example Samoa were given a try against Scotland when the footage reviewed clearly showed the ball being touched down on top of a defender instead of being grounded.

TBF, there's a clip on it that makes the penalty award look legit. (Tweet by Jacobite - I think it is)

so now that there is a different angle showing a clumsy push from the Motherwell player...is the "definite cheat" brigade still sticking with their views...or will you come on and admit that there was push by the Well player ...use url below

Just watched the video a couple of times. Before seeing it, I thought it was a dive. After watching it, I thought definite penalty.
However, having watched it again I'm not so sure the Motherwell player wasn't 'set up'.
Roberts gets in front of him then puts the brakes on. The momentum of the Well player carries him to the player. And Roberts bowls over having created the situation himself. I would suggest the 'push' was merely him trying to avoid the collision.
Kinda like a car overtaking you then slamming on the brakes causing you to tail end it.

Sneakily clever. Cheating? Perhaps not but in my book not in the spirit of the game.

Think you're probably right. Still a penalty for me though even if it was a bit of a dick move

Snooky, think that's a decent summary...he tried to get the Well player to bump into him...my only variant would be though that the player didn't bump him, he pushed him..was a silly move, even though McGregor was playing for it...

Wouldn't that be obstruction against the tim anywhere else on the park?

Also because the ball was at McGregors feet.
